I just watched a special on the Discovery channel on building firetrucks. Those things are beastly.....and expensive.

Is that the orginal paint on the 96? If so, that looks like it was well taken car of! Whats the under carriage look like? I'm curious how well GM trucks hold up over the years compared to FFFFFoords.

The paint on the 96 is hard to describe, it was slightly hail damaged in the past so the hood and drivers side bed was re-painted. everything else is original. The under carriage has NO rust holes which is kinda un common around here. I made sure i didnt but a truck with any rust holes anywhere!

nice trucks! The Local Fire Department here just replaced 8 of it's old Pierce pumpers with new American LaFrance pumpers, they look very sharp.

wow 8! Nice to hear the city treats them well!!

Yes they sure do, I am very happy with the fleet department in that City, they get the best for both Police and Fire. (They just got some VERY nice looking Tahoe Police Packages, to replace their older Tahoes) The funny thing is that the Fire Captains and admin still drive early 90s Astro's & GMC Safari's, always makes me smile when I see one of those things going Code-3. They are slowly being phased out and replaced with Suburbans and Tahoe's and Impala's. (Cars for the not too important Admin, Burbs and Hoe's for the Captains/Chief)
