Lug Nut Size For 2009 Silverado 1500

What size hex are the OEM lug nuts? I need to get some chrome lug nuts to use with OEM chrome-clad 18” wheels (option code R07) and I would like to be able to use the OEM lug wrench. McGard’s website says the OEM hex size is 22 mm but when I called my local Chevy dealer, the parts guy said it is 7/8” and has been for quite a while.

 

 

 

Also, what length lug nut do I need? I think the OEM ones are just a tad over ¾”. I can use longer lug nuts as the wheels leave the lug nuts exposed. I was looking at McGard or Gorilla brand lug nuts. Are there any other brands you’d recommend? I’m not a fan of the crimped-on caps on the OEM lug nuts.
