Towing

I was wondering if anyone knows what i would be safe towing with a 99 grand am 3.4v6. I would be towing to jetskis on a trailer jet skis weigh about 500lbs each so i would be towing 1000-1500. In the owners manual it says no more then 1000 lbs

 

I have a truck but i want to go up north a few times this year and take the boat to so would need something else to hauld the skis

If there is a factory hitch on don`t go over what the manual says, if its an aftermarket one find out what its rated too. I`m sure it will tow 1500lbs but for how long....

I wouldn't do it. Not saying it wouldn't be safe. I just doesn't sound right.

That is probably half the weight of your car. Not a big deal if you had to move it across town, but I think you would be taking a safety risk.
