Right Front Inner Axle Bearing Removal. Help!

Recommended Posts

Posted

Ok, I have been fighting this leaking right front inner axle seal problem for a week now. Have replaced the seal twice with no luck. Thought I would give it one more try now. A mechanic told me that its probably the inner axle needle bearing that is causing the problem. I went to the dealer and bought both an OEM inner axle oil seal and an OEM replacement needle bearing. Before all this started I was knoticing a new sound on deceleration from the front right so I am hoping this is the cause. The seal is easy enough too change out but am not really sure as to how I will pull the old bearing. Chilton suggest the bearing be changed with a slide hammer and bearing remover attachment. No luck finding an attachment yet. Anyways my question is, just how do I get the bearing out without damaging anything? Also how do I go about setting the new one. The job seems easy enough especially since I have had it apart already. Any pointers on how had shade tree mechanic could go about this would be much appreciated.
