Rollbak Retractable Tonneau Cover

Hi all, Im interested in buying a Rollbak Tonneau cover from bak industries. Im a contractor and I want to have a cover that will: lock and be secure, open fully and not limit the height of what I want to put in the bed, and not cover the stake pockets so I can still throw a ladder rack on when I need to. The fact that the Rollbak is powercoated aluminum and rated to hold 400lbs vs. the other tonneaus that are vinyl and hold 200 lbs is also a plus.

So now you know what i think im looking for . . . . Does anyone have experience with the Rollbak or any other Bak industries products? If so what did you think? Where is the best place to buy a cover from price wise (i'll install it myself). Thank you all very much for any and all help.

 

If anyone has good experiences with another hard retractable tonneaus please tell me your opinions as well. My dad has a Pace Edwards Bedlocker it is a nice (pricey) cover. It takes a while to open and close though.

I Guess if anyone wondered my truck is a 2008 GMC Sierra 1500 Crew cab SLE 4x4. Black with Pro Package (20's, rear sensors, vehicle info computer). I absolutely love it! After the tonneau im gonna leave it alone. I did install seat covers (GT covers synthetic, these are the best looking, and feeling seat covers i've seen and i research a lot. Most people get in the truck and think I have leather seats until or if i tell them). Thanks

I have a roll-n-lock cover, a bit pricey but it's worked pretty well for me so far...We recently had some "cold snaps" where it was covered was ice (in Florida) and after I had it adjusted at the dealer, it opened right up and all my stuff was dry.

Really sweet covers. I built a house for a guy that had one and He loved it. He showed me how it worked (power), and it did seem a little slow, but it would lock at any position.

 

It was quite expensive as well.

i used to sell these accessories for an aftermarket truck cap place and got to say, we never messed with Bak industries. They generaly didnt give verry good prices and verry few people were looking for them. Also look at install, if its got a good install instructions then it may be a good company to go with other wise its a made in china peice, and you will hate it.

 

i know this may be out of the price range your looking to spend but if your a contractor and need to put stuff on your tonneau then this is the ticket, these are about $18-2200 and are distributed by A.R.E tonneau cover company.

they can hold about 1600lbs of weight look at the add i dont remember the spacifics right now but GM just started offering them for the new H3T. They are designed for the heavy duty contractor and look awsome. And honestly i have only seen 3 or 4 around here in maryland but they are a eye catcher, aparently you can drive your 4 wheeler right on the back of it..

Thanks for all the help guys. The diamonback is more than I want to spend plus it doesn't retract it has a solid piece in the middle that the front hatch and back hatch hinge on. Plus I don't neccessarily need to put heavy stuff on the cover I just want the ability to still use a stake pocket or a rack when I need to. My truck is a damn good looking vehicle so I like to have accesories that look nice or if they don't they can be removed when I don't need them. With the Rollbak I could use this http://www.usrack.com/stakepocket.shtml or this http://www.pickupspecialties.com/usrack/FX...adder_Rack.html and still keep my tools dry and secure under the bed, but If i need to haul a fridge or something tall I could still do that too. That Diamondback cover is a beast but it would be a pain to find someplace to put it if I needed the space. The rollbak would just go to the front of the bed . . . . right?

All the reviews I've seen have been the same, they say its an awesome product but it isn't easy to install and the instructions aren't very good. They say to listen more to the video online than to the instructions sent with the cover . . . . oh well. Let me know your opinions please. I feel like the $865 isn't a bad price. I could get the jackrabbit for that but I couldn't use my stake pockets and I think the vinyl might get tore up.

If you live north of I-80 I would say no to this type of cover as the winter snow and ice WILL "jam" it up.
