Gmpp Exhaust Question

I have the GMPP (Borla) exhaust with the dual rear exit for my 03 Silverado. To have the rubber hangars perfectly vertical it seems like the front pipe has to go pretty far into the muffler. The front pipe goes in about five or six inches and the Y pipe only a little over three because of the bracket preventing it from going further. The outside part of the muffler where the clamps go is only about three inches. I'm guessing the system is suppose to be like this but it never said anything in the installation instructions about how far the pipes go into the muffler. My other option is too have the rubber hangars at an angle but it doesn't seem right. Anybody else have experience with this?

I don't think I would want the pipe into the muffler more than 3". I guess its either bend the hangers or get out the old sawzall.
