Was wondering if anyone had done business with them. They promise shipping within two business days, and have awesomely cheap shipping prices (Seems to blow GMpartsDirect out of the water on most items when you take shipping into account) even free shipping on orders over $200. So when it sounds too good to be true, I gotta at least ask right?

PS, my first post and all so if this has been hit on before I apologize (tried to search before I posted). Just been reading up to this point and looking to spruce up the new truck. TIA

GMPartsDirect is actually a dealership that simply sells parts at low prices but for whatever reason makes it up in the shipping side. But not all parts from them have a high shipping charge. Their shipping rates are all over the place.

For example, a buddy found an ABS pump assembly for his '90 ZR-1 Corvette at GMPartsDirect and the selling price was half that of the local dealer retail price. IIRC, the pump assembly retailed for nearly $1100. But the shipping charges were close to $200 for a part that weighs all of 5 pounds and about the size of an alternator. "Real" shipping charges for something like that should have been no more than $15 by UPS Ground.

There are a couple of other GM dealerships where their parts departments do internet sales of nearly any GM part and even those places have different shipping costs. Guess you just have to look around for the best deal. Try GMPartsHouse.com to see if you can get better deals.

I don't see them as all that cheap. There are 4 to 5 web-sites I look at when ordering a part. Depends on the part as to who is the cheapest. I can say gmpartsdirect has been the cheapest for me on around 70% of what I have purchased. Does not hurt to get 2nd or 3rd opinion. :(

Ive had several orders from GMpartsDirect and its just the damn awful shipping time+ extremely retarded shipping charges that usually puts me off of them ($10) to ship a single bolt ect. Another beef with GMPD I have is many things come in packages of 4 or 12 straight from GM and typically GMPD wont let you just buy one, its the package or nothing; and anymore its like they stock nothing, everything is a specail order meaning none refundable for any reason. The other sites, PartsZone, PaceParts ect seem to have much higher prices (at least on the things Ive searched for) but faster ship times at a reasonable ship prices (generally) and the ability to just buy one.

The things I was adding to the cart at Buymygmparts.com were typically within $10, of GMPD and shipping for 2 items together came to $7. And anything over $200 was free. Maybe it was just the pieces I was picking, and I probably got a little hasty. I agree its probably a better idea to give each place a look to see who has the best deal on a per part basis. PartsZone looks like they have completely revamped there website since I was last there, only beef with them that I see is no way to estimate shipping before you place the order (Or maybe Im just not seeing it). I also agree most of these site are just Stealership parts counters making a buck online.

Paceparts.com btw, I have found them to be the most helpful, there's a guy over there named Greg that has gone out of his way to find parts for me when I couldn't locate the PN. Extremely helpful in my experiences.

Would certainly be nice if GMPD shipped to Canada! They are $20 cheaper than the lowest price I found anywhere else but won't bother exporting it. Guess PartsZoneOnline will be getting my business.
