hmmm interesting read, but something i have actually found on my own. i have been using castrol without problem for a while, did have issues with mobil AND valvoline synthetics.

But who cares its all just a pissing contest, as long as the label meets requirements for your application, run her!

It's oil. It all works, as long as you change it.

I say use whatever the f*ck you want.

:D:thumbs: I can't recall an engine failure that could be conclusively attributed to a bad brand of oil. I do recall the dyno tests done by someone (race team) I knew in the late 70s or early 80s where they discovered the then popular Valvoline Racing Oil (dino oil) would pretty severely foam up in their dry sump tank on the dyno. They switched to Kendall Racing Oil and the foaming was eliminated. I followed that advice in our turbo engines back then.

Exxon/Mobil lost, so if you can't beat them, join them. I use Valvoline Synpower.

Valvoline synthetic is now on GMs approved oil list GM4718M for the Corvette, and the new Castrol Edge is GM4718M approved as well.
