Battery Disconnected

Any ill effects on disconnecting the battery for winter storage, Currently the Silvy is sitting with a battery maintainer connected to the battery while the truck hibernates through the winter. Other then resetting the clock would there be any ill effects if the battery was removed for say 6 months while the truck sat? Computer Problems??Thought about storing the truck in the future off site to give me more room in the garage over winter and I won't be able to plug the battery maintainer in. Any thoughts???

I don't see why it would hurt anything. I store my boat all winter without the battery in it.

I was thinking along the same lines. Just never have unplugged it for that long.

That shouldn't be a problem, though I think I'd put the battery on a trickle charger for maintenance purposes while the truck is in storage. Something like one of these:

EDIT: Durr, I just re-read your post and realized you already have it on a trickle charger.

Shouldn't hurt. I have a similiar situation, but I leave mine connected and runn off the trickle charger. That way I can start her up every now and then to circulate the fluids.

Truck hasn't moved since mid Nov, Battery maintainer connected since. If not the battery will be dead in a month if the truck isn't moved. (No Onstar either). Security system draws it down??? Just thinking maybe next year I might put it in the shed and get it out of the garage for winter.

If I were to store it over winter, I would leave the battery in it, and have it hooked up to a trickle charger IMO.
