Brake Bleeding

Hey

 

Does anyone know if brake fluid is supposed to shoot up out of the master cylinder reserviour when you press the brake or when bench bleeding. Someone please help me.

Yes it is, you are supposed to put the cover on the resevoir while bleeding, as the diaphragm in there keeps the fluid from going everywhere... after every few pumps of the system, you should take the cover off and top it up. Don't let it get to the empty state though, because then air will get into the system and you'll have to start all over.

Yes it is, you are supposed to put the cover on the resevoir while bleeding, as the diaphragm in there keeps the fluid from going everywhere... after every few pumps of the system, you should take the cover off and top it up. Don't let it get to the empty state though, because then air will get into the system and you'll have to start all over.

The only thing is that the haynes manual sais to take the cap off and when I bled the brakes on a 94 chev 1 ton and a few other trucks it didnt happen. I just dont want to take any chances since the brakes are pretty important.

Yes Brakes are important, and brake fluid is better than terpantine at removing paint...

 

Make sure and cover up all painted areas with a tarp or plastic sheeting when working with brake fluid...Trust me, I know..LOL...
