2008 Traction Control

I got a brand new 2008 silverado 1500 with a 6" RCD lift and 33" tires. When i make slow speed turns a third of the time the traction control turns on and almost stops the tire. it is not rubbing. when we adjust the tire size the problem gets worse and the speedometer is more off than stock. I think a speed sensor problem but my problem is the lift company and the Chevy dealership went out of business the same week and other dealers wont touch it because of the lift. Anybody have these problems? thanks.

I would imagine that the way this would work is an electronic gizmo measures the speed of each rear tire. Perhaps the front as well. And maybe even factors in the speed of the drive shaft.

Then there would be a normal range or tire movement and if it is not what it should be, then the computer would determine that a wheel was slipping and turn on the traction and lock the rear differential or whatever.

All the inputs (speeds of tire rotation) the computer would expect would be based on the factory tire sizes.

If you change the size of the tires, then the computer would see different speeds!

I would use stock tire sizes.

Or if modifying the tire sizes, then all the computer programming should be modified as well.

For myself, I would get a factory maintenance manual set of books and learn how the electronics operates. What sensors are used and what they are used for? Then either modify the electronics (if possible) or use stock tires.

If the only things which would be changed are the speed on the speedometer (and not an automatic transmission or engine) and the traction, then I would get a speedometer shop to make a speed correction gear box if this is a mechanical thing. And maybe place an on/off switch on the traction control if the electronics can't be modified.

Or find a computer wizard to modify the associated computer settings.
