Another Tire Question - 20" Profile

New 20's coming.......

275/55/20 is recommended to dimensionally replace the stock 265/70/17's diameter.

I would like to go with 275/60/20 which will give me a taller tire (33"vs 31.9).

GM Tech tool should be able to calibrate for this tire and the speedo issues that it would cause.

I want to get some more rubber between the road and the rim and a taller tire to fill a little more wheel well.

My questions is........ should there be any other issues in running this 60 series profile tire?

Thanks

There don't appear to be many people running 275/60/20s although it seems like a really logical and easy upsize. I had a thread on this issue before and I'm hoping that going up an inch to that size will be fine on stock wheels without leveling/lift.

You will need a leveling kit. There are many threads on this. Myself and many others are running this size on stock size wheels.

WHEEL - 20x8.5 - 22mm GM wheel - (17x7.5 - 31mm stock)

265/70/17 - stock tire - 31.6 diameter - 7.3 sidewall - 15.8 radius - 99.3 circumference

275/55/20 - matching specs - 31.9 diameter - 6.0 sidewall - 16.0 radius - 100.2 circumference

275/60/20 - Want to try this - 33.0 diameter - 6.5 sidewall - 16.5 radius - 103.6 circumference

Stock height......ass-end up in the air......

So I will need to turn the front keys and ride rough with little travel to raise the front end (or get replacements to give me some suspension travel and hopefully a little better ride?)

AlaskaLTZ......Is the issue full lock with the tire hitting inside the fender well?

Thanks for the help!

The issue is full lock, and in reverse.

Keys? Are we talking the '06 or the '07? You have both listed. Yes, crank the keys on the '06

OBS........thanks AlaskaLTZ

Don't want to turn the keys up or even replace them as I like the compliant ride and I know what turning keys does to the ride and suspension travel.

If it is really marginal with the stock suspension and someone here has done it with no issues, I might take the chance, otherwise I guess I will go with the 55's :sigh:

I had 275/60-20 tires on my 2007 with a 2inch rough country front lift. The tires would still rub in turns and when going over speed bumps. I don't think they would have fit at all with the stock ride height and no fender well modifications.

I'll go out on a limb and say they'll fit. that's only a 1" taller tire...1/2" on each side of the wheel. go out and measure how close your tire currently comes to the front bumper side of the wheel well opening. if you have 1" of clearence they should fit, leaving you 1/2" of clearence. people fit 285/70/17 all the time and that's the same as 33's

My cousin fit 33X12.50 MT's on 20"X10" rims with a mild torsion bar tweak and minor trimming of the plastic on the front bumper. you might need to tweak the torsion bars, but IMHO they'll fit.

Ben....someone mentioned above that the issue was some rubbing on full lock

Thanks for all the help guys, I'm not taking the chance since I can't try one and see (tires via the internet), and I do not want to

crank the keys at all.

So no real biggie, I'll go with proven 275/55/20's and not worry about it.
