Thinking About Getting A...

Im looking to get a hid relay harness but I have a question, and im not sure if anyone has put one on their truck. But every harness ive looked at, it seems that the harness only plugs into one of the stock halogen harness, am I seeing this right? what do i do with the other side? do i need to tape it to keep dirt and water out of it? Here is a pretty good picture. The one with the blue and black wire plugs into the stock harness and the other 2 red and black plugs into the ballests I hope I explained this well enough. Thanks

oh alright. so this kit is pretty much plug and play too. Why is there only one plug that plugs into the factory harness? Does that let you use the stock switch still for the lights? Thanks

Yep,Its pretty much plug-n-play,You just have to hook one end up to the postive battery terminal, and the other end to a ground.

I don't know why they only use one plug but yes,you still use the stock headlight switch.

Oh ok it looks like ill be getting 2 of them one for lows and the other for highs. Where did you get yours from, I think someone on here got theirs from xenongate. Are all these harness kits pretty much the same?

The harness basically gives you a larger diemeter wire for your power source so it can handle more current. The power is actually routed straight from the battery. The plug that connects to the factory harness is the "switch" that turns the relay on. When your headlights are on and current is moving through the factory harness, the relay kicks in and sends power directly from the battery through the new wire. Since the relay only needs one signal from the facroty wiring, it would be overkill to hook up to boths sides, as they both have power to them. Hope this helps. :)

All harnesses are pretty much the same except for the connectors. Take a look on EBay is you want b/c they have all of them aswell. You could even build your own if you had all the parts: relay, connectors, wire, ring conenctor for battery and insulation/heatshrink.

The harness protects you from having to possibly replace your stock harness incase you were to fry to switch or some wire under the dash.

Better safe than sorry!
