Differntial/rear End? Noise/slipping? 08nbs

first time in snow/slush/ice yesterday here in VA. I have a 08 Silverado 2WD, but with the optional locking rear ($325). Its not the G80 or special unit, just std Locking rear I guess.

It was absolutely horrible, Got stuck several times on hills and really only one wheel (the left rear) ever was spinning/slipping. it never seemed as if it wanted to lock or even attempt to spin/move power to the other side. When she was spinning the left rear I was hearing strange/loud clicking and clunking noises coming out of the rear end. I was also sometimes feeling like I was getting some wheel hop out of the back of the truck while spinning the tire every now and then.

I am wondering if this is normal, or somethings not locking up correctly in the differential. Also a few times in the rain months ago, I remember the rear end feeling very strange almost like it locked up, cause I rememer distinct problems trying to park or turn slowly, Like both wheels were locked up when they should not be. But it went away so I did not pay much attention to it. Just fueling my ideas that maybe something funky is going on in there.

Has anyone heard of any issues with the New rear ends in the 08-09 silverados, gmcs????

Sounds like the standard locker. You will get some hop and spin out of it on occasion, and mine on my 01 would lock up on occasion in wet conditions. I can't vouch for the snow driving, but sounds like everything is alright to me.
