07+ Silverado's Not As Responsive As 99-06?

Have any of you noticed that the new 07+ silverados feel less responsive than the previous years when you step on the gas? My 07 feels like there is a delay from the time I step on it to when it actually gets up and goes.

I have noticed this on others I test drove as well.(4.3 to 5.3)

The GMT-900 trucks have a noticeable lag, if you think it bad on a 5.3L, it is way worse on a 6.0L. A tune would get rid of the delay in power.

Just wait till you try and pass a V6 Dodge Ram merging on the interstate, but upon gunning it, it decides to hang out in 4th for a bit, then step down to 3rd and hang out for a little bit, then finally drop down to 2nd and start accelerating. All this while the V6 Ram is pulling ahead of you because the ECM/TCM decided you didn't really want to accelerate to get around him. :D I can't wait for a tune...

<------see Black Bear Performance or Wheatley in the sponsors column. Either one can help you out. :D

This was the best decision I ever made...I highly reccomend a tune!

I knew it wasnt just me. My 01 4.3 in my sig seemed like it had more snap.

My 07 has a 4.8. It does feel like the power is there but I just have to find it.

My 4.3L 99 would beat my 07 5.3L off the line. Maybe in a quarter mile, but that may have been a toss up.

Now after my Blackbear tune, it would be no contest.

so whats the deal with this delay? is it GM trying to give us better traction?

I just installed a superchips tune we had laying around work. it didnt do anything for off the line but it did help it to downshift better. I'll run it for a while since its free.

People want smooth shifts, smooth shifts are hard on the transmission so they cut power before and after shifting to save the tranny. Some power cuts off the line are to relieve stress on the entire driveline and a lot of them are to save gas and cut emissions. Not positive on it, but that's the best I can come up with combining what all people have observed and said.
