Whats up everyone. In 06 I bought a brand new 2wd crew cab gmc 1500 and never did anything to it just kept it stock exept for a rhino lining and flowmaster series 40 mufler. I always wanted to level it out and the other day a buddy of mine at work decided to get a 4/6 drop kit for his and offered me the shackles he has on it now. I said I would take it and since then have been making small modifications (mostly ones I found on this site) just to clean it up.

1) I had an eyebrow and the front windows tinted to match the factory tint on the back glass and rear windows.

2) Hide the wires for the ipod and tomtom after moving the tomtom to a permanent mount in the cubby hole to the right of the ac controls.

3) Rerouted the antena under the molding at the bottom of the windshield.

4) Ordered silverstar ultras for the highs and lows and put the diodes to run the highs and lows at the same time.

5) 2" drop shakles hopefully installed this weekend

Basically a few low budget mods just to make it a little more "put together." I hate to admit it but when I was about 18 I was a ricer and dumped a lot of money into a toyota corolla (at least I was different than all the other people driving hondas I guess) and when I got rear ended and it was totaled I didn't get back much of the money I put into it. Now I am 25 with a wife and little girl and am a little more practical about my truck. Plus I still use it to haul around my other toys. I love looking at custom trucks but the highly modified thing just isn't for me anymore. But boy i gotta tell you even though the few mods i have aren't much compared to some of you I am starting to take pride in my truck again and don't feel like I am driving the same thing as all the other people here in lafayette.

The mods I know I want to make are:

1) Air intake. The 4.8 has enough performance for me I just like the deeper sound it adds to the exhaust

2) Upgrade the 6.5 speakers in all doors

3) Fog lights (preferably factory ones)

4) Possibly some 20" factory wheels but not sure about that one yet. I guess if the right deal comes along

Well I guess there is not much more to tell you about the truck and after I get the shackles put on I am going to clean it and take some pics so I can show it off. I am looking forward to talking with all of you and maybee finding some other mods to do.

Hey and welcome to the site, don't read too much on here, if you do you will probably get the bug to start modding things out. Either way it's fun and it's a heck of a lot cheaper than going and getting a new truck. :)

Soon as I get the shakles on and get it really clean I am gonna take some pictures and probably put one in the sig. My favorite sig picture i have seen is pennzoils. A total 180 from what you usually see. Hey pennzoil what do you think the chances of ol' Harvick coming to stewart hass racing. I think him and tony would make an awesome team.

Welcome from the nothern corner of the state three hours up I-49. I'm in shreveport. Welcome to the site. And I totally agree with bigredmariner, you read too much on here and the more stuff you'll wanna do to your truck and more stuff to buy for your truck. I 've buying stuff like crazy lately, most recently upgrading my headlights to HID's after seeing how "Daddy" did hid lights. Once I saw his pictures, I was drooling. Now I keep a towel handy while looking at the site, lol! :)
