I have a 2002 Chevy Suburban in the morning when its cold first thing when you start the truck it ticks very loud once it warms up a bit it stops.

What could be causing this i am running Castrol GTX 10w-30 Oil.

the oil wouldnt be a big deal, yes it is thicker. Every engine has this problem only because all of its componets are a different size when there cold. Intill they are warmed up to the norm will show. A really loud knocking noice is what should worry you, not one you look for.

Very common issue, not something that can be repaired. It's more likely the typical Cold Start Knock. Your vehicle will be fine. Might consider switching to 5W30, it's what GM prefers in these engines, even though 10W30 is still ok. I noticed the CSK on my 99 5.3 and 07 5.3 quieted somewhat after going from 10W30 to 5W30. (Does not matter if it is Synthetic or standard, it'll still be there)
