Temperature Control Actuator Failure

Lately I have been noticing that my truck has been blowing hot air no matter what the temp dial was set too. Sometimes I would have to open up the window in the middle of the winter cuz it was getting to hot. Now that its been warming up I had to do something about it. Started fishing around under the dash and removed the temp control actuator that opperatre the damper for cold/warm air and it was sounding like it was dying. Took it all apart and didnt see any issues. Anyways, $92 dollars later and minus one screw on the air box cover under the dash(was impossible to reach it to put it back in) my temp dial is working. Just wondering if this is a common problem thats happened to anyone else. I feel that $92 is a outrageous for some plastic gears and a little cheap motor that you can find in $25 rc cars at Toys R Us.
