Maybe this is normal, maybe not...

::Typical situation::

Okay so Im going up an on ramp at a slightly more than average pace.. 1st gear OK.. 2nd gear OK........ hit 3rd gear and chug... chug... chug... waaay too early of a shift way too low of rpms. I dont know the rpm cause I dont have a tach :lol:

So I give it more gas.. more gas... waay too low rpm to do anything... a little more, a little more... finally downshifts into 2nd, VROOOOM.. almost rear end the car in front of me. Too fast.

How can I go in between? How can I force the truck to shift later other than woting all the time?

Would a new chip help? Im not looking for more 'performance' just better shifting.

Thanks.

Well, there's not a whole lot you can do with TBIs. You could get a custom burned chip, but I'm not sure if it'd do a whole lot compared to the newer trucks with the TM that causes the lack of power where you need it. You might want to consider a Corvette servo, it should definitely help you a little and can be installed in the 700R4. It only costs around $20. Read this thread for an example.
