Difference Between The L33 And L59 V8's?

I recently discovered that my 2006 GMC extended cab pickup has a L33 HO 5.3L V8 in it and I was wondering what the design differences between the L33 and L59 engines, besides the aluminum vs. cast iron block and the 310HP vs. 295HP for the L33 and L59 respectively?

I am pretty sure that the L59 was the E85 iron block ethanol capable engine rated at 295 hp while the L33 was the aluminum NON ethanol capable engine that was rated at 310 hp.

I have done a little research on this since you posted this question originally. I found that the L33 has different heads then the L59. The L33 heads have a little smaller combustion chamber, bumping up the compression slightly and flow a little better. I have not found the cam specs, but I am sure they are different, being different heads you will want a different cam to fully utilize them.
