Putco Lights

The accessory dept at my local dealership sells Putco's premium lights. So last Wednesday, while I was getting an inspection sticker, I decided to have them install the Ion Sprark White lights (Highs, Lows, and Fogs). Today I noticed that I had moisture in my left fog light. When I went under my truck to look at things I could smell burnt burnt plastic. I took the left fog light assembly apart and noticed that both the bulb and the bulb housing were melted. Oddly enough the bulb still works, but the base of it is melted and warped. After looking at Putco's website I noticed that they sell an additional wiring harness, which my dealer mentioned nothing about it.

I know some of you have bought these lights already and my questions are

1) Has anyone experienced the same issue?

2) is the optional harness required or is it a waste of $$

I had the Putco fog bulbs in my truck for less than a week and one of the bulbs burned out already. Took the other one out and threw 'em in the garbage where they belong.

I have had them for over a year and they are still working fine for me. I use them all the time too (well, when it's dark anyway  ).

Did you upgrade to the Putco wiring harness?

I have the Putco yellow bulbs (forget their name for them) and have had no problems. Being as they are yellow, I only use them as fog lights when it's foggy, so they are not on constantly, but still have not noted any problems. I do not have an additional wiring harness either. Maybe the bulbs you got burn hotter. Regardless, being as you purchased through your dealership, and they installed them, I would be hitting them up for some new fog lights to replace the burnt warped ones!

Waste of money when there are better options like HID. I was VERY close to buying them as I wanted better light ASAP but am happy I did my HIDs.

Good point!

Anyone wanna buy some "slightly used" fog light bulbs? Price: 1 case of MGD Light.
