Amp Power Cable

I had my battery die on me this week, the only thing that ever goes wrong with my truck, and I ran into a problem. The swap was easy but when I went to reconnect my amp's power cord I could not get the cable to screw back into the battery terminal. I remember having trouble with this when I first got my amp/sub but I made it work then, some years ago. The amp's power chord has a round connector that I put around the screw of the pos. lead. This doesn't leave much room for the screw but like I said before, I've made it work in the past.

Before I start busting my knuckles and being generally pissed off I wanted to ask if there was another place I could garner sufficient power other than the positive terminal.

Thanks for the help, you guys have always been a problem solver before.

Like Kris said, you need a side-post extender, but...

do you have side terminal or top ones, if it is the side one do you have a side post extender like this http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=GMBT

That one won't work, I've tried. The truck batteries need one with a longer stud, like this one: http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.c...tnumber=263-631

Or you can hook it up to the Aux a or b post in the fuse realy center thing

Bad idea, especially if your amp pulls a lot of current. That wire going to the relay center is 6 gauge at the very best, and it's already loaded with all of your truck's accessories.

Is there nowhere under the hood that I could get sufficient power from besides the battery itself? I don't want to mess with figuring out how to replace the battery's lead, although it sounds like the only solution. Is there a guide on how to do the swap on this forum, I assume that this part has either rudimentary instructions or non at all.

Go to the battery, you're thinking too much into it. Just get the one Kyle mentioned - http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.c...tnumber=263-631. I replaced both my Pos & Neg posts with these and they work great :dunno:

Just pop/push the original out & push the new one back in ... simple as that.

Yes it should, if you are referring to the side post lead, all you do is remove old one, takes a little muscle, and pliers, then add the new post again takes a little muscle pliers help here too, attach it to the battery, then attach the power cable to the the attached stud then reattach ground to battery. That means unattach ground wire FIRST and then proceed to unattach positive!

Wow that was easy, it took maybe 5 minutes. Thanks for the advice. I went to my local car audio store and they sold me an extender for 4 bucks.
