Int. Steering Shaft Clunk

I have the new and improved steering shaft #19153614 on my 03 sierra. I have had this shaft on the truck for at least 2 years and now it is clunking. Does anybody have any ideas or seen posts about installing a grease zerk on the old style shaft?

I ordered the Dorman shaft from Rockauto. Hopefully it will be better than the factory part.
