Scpfi To Mfi System Upgrade For 97k1500

Has anyone done this upgrade to their 96-99 C/K1500 with a 5.7. If so what were your results. I've heard it makes a huge improvement to throttle response.

 

Upgrade kit for the Sequential Central Port Fuel Infection to the MFI system, equipped with 5.0L and 5.7L engine and California emission equipped (RPO YF5) vehicles.

Did it about 2 or 3 years ago. I had 4 leaking injectors on the old unit. So after pricing the repair parts I made the upgrade and haven't looked back. Throttle response seems the same but I never really paid to much attention.

I agree that this conversion is primarily a replacement for the scpi system (to get rid of the nozzle poppet valves that get deposit buildup and stick). It is an alternate fuel injection system, not a performance upgrade... it was the oem injection system on the 7.4L v8 of those same year vortecs. By all accounts it works very well, .... but after spending the money don't expect any significant performance gain... unless of course your scpi system is totally pooched at the moment.

 

I had seriously considered this conversion for my 97 5.7L Vortec... and I still might... I had chronic misfire problems and hard starting... turned out that the primary problem for me was a bad fuel pump. New fuel pump and a good injector flush and mine is running OK again. So I held off spending the money on the MFI conversion.... for now.
