New dash lighting question

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if anyone out there has changed their dash lighting colors?  Also, I would be very interested in changing my bulbs from a standard bulb to a high intensity LED.  Anyone know where I can find these???  Thanks!

Thanks, thats what I was looking for.  Does anyone know of a place that sells LED lights for cars/trucks?  I'd rather use LED's than colored bulbs so you have a very even flow of light.

LED's are available at Radio Shack. You can get them in various colors and brightness levels. To use them in a car application you have to use a 670 ohm resistor in series with the LED, these are also available at Radio Shack. The brightness level is rated in MCD's, the higher MCD number, the brighter the light output.

I replace the tiny light bulbs in radio/tape player dials with LED's, usually amber or red, they work well and last a long, long time. To do the swap above you would have to solder the LED & resistor in place in the bulb socket, or directly to the circuit board, but they are polarity sensitive, and you have to install them accordingly or they won't illuminate, it won't harm it if you hook it up backwards, but it won't light up.

you can see what Radio Shack offers at:
