1999 Tahoe 5.7 4x4 - Liquid Is Leaking Out The Left Side Of The Exhaus

My brothers 1999 5.7 4x4 tahoe is leaking some liquid out the bottom of left exhaust manifold. He just had the radiator replaced. He definitely has water or coolant in his oil.

I figure a compression test is needed next? What do you guys think would be a good plan of attack on this problem?

Thanks

Nick

Intake gasket or head gasket or cracked head. That about covers what it could be. If it were me, I'd start pulling it apart and find the source. Can the two of you handle something like this?

You should be able to spot the problem when you come to it. Hopefully it's just the intake gaskets.

So the intake gasket will actually allow coolant into the exhaust? I figured I would have a cracked head or blown headgasket since I the coolant cant compress. The engine actually sounds OK. Could a compression test tell me if it was an intake gasket problem?

Or if you didn't write this...Check your computer for a virus.

My bet is on a head gasket too. Its just starting and lifted on the outside of the head by the sound of things.

A compression test won't let you know if you have intake issues. My guess is intake is leaking. I also agree to start pulling components off to find the problem. That is if you are actually loosing water like Rick said.
