6 Headlight Mod?

i was reading another post and saw this in a members signature, now i know what it does, turns on lo hi and fog lights together. i did some reading into it through here and im sure it has a more official name i dont know about but the only thing i found was a post from 2002 about a diode. from what i remember on a cavalier i had if you cut one of the wires for the fog lamps you could get them to stay on with the lo and hi beams and on my explorer sport if you remove a prong from one of the relays in the fuse panels itll let you do hi beam and fog lamps together. well we all know how important lights are and id like to have as much visibility as possible. so can someone point me in the right direction to doing this 6 way mod please. or perhaps give me the name of an online place that sells a module that will allow lo and hi beams to work together. thanks

finally got a chance to look at the pdf. looks very easy, 2 diodes and a few minutes worth of time. ill try this out tomorrow or the day after i think :dunno: thanks again for the link

real quick, will running all 6 at once have a negative effect on the alternator? will it be able to power all 6 for a continous period of time without any issues?

i know here its illegal to have more than 4 forward facing lights on at once, but then again so are hid headlights. so im sure if this is one of those things thats used on the dark back roads around me itll be fine. gonna go to radio shack today and see if i can find some diodes. i went to school for electrical engineering and had a whole case of assorted diodes but i have no damn idea where i put them, oh well. lets hope i dont scew this up today, lol

i went to the source, used to be radio shack. they dont have the diodes needed, so now i have to find another computer palce to find these or see if i can buy a handful online cheap somewhere.

This can also be accomplished by the dealer tech2 device if you can convince the dealer to do it.

All they have to do is change the vehicles programming to indicate you have an export model (vehicle sold outside usa or canada) and it enables fogs with high beams.

I did this with my chrysler and asked about it when I bought my chevy and dealer did it in 5 min. But made me sign a form saying I won't hold them responsible for any legal issues I incure as a result.

Well, I see that it doesn't work for 2007+ vehicles, so I guess I'm out of luck here. It seems to me that there ought to be some sort of way to program it without going to the dealer. I know a buddy of mine has a 2002 Silverado 1500 HD and he knows all kinds of codes to get it to do different things. I may ask him, but then since the 2002s are so different from the 07s it may not work in the end anyway.
