Hello everyone, new to this board and have a few questions.

Currently have a 99 Suburban 4x4 1500 5.7    3:73 posi and I am seriously looking to upgrade to the new 2500 series.

Anyone else have one of the new 2500 with the 8100 motor? I would be looking at the big block motor to pull my performance boat. I guess I am just looking for opinions on the new design. I am also considering the blue oval "X" with the Diesel but so far I am leaning towards the chevy.

Thanks in advance

I don't think you can wrong with the 2500 8.1, should pull anything you got without any trouble and looks alot better than the X. Welcome to the forum!

Welcome to the forum!!!

I have the 2500HD crewcab and the interior is identical to a "sawwed off Suburban" and the interior room is great and very comfortable.  The Avalanche is built on the new style 1500 Suburban chassis and everyone raves about it for ride etc...

I only have the 6.0L in my truck and it does everything I need, but the 8.1L should be rather impressive in the new Subs.  I may be mistaken but I think there is a choice of trannies with the 8.1L in the subs (Allison or 4L80E).  That's a decision you'll have to ponder when it comes time to buy...

Thanks,

I have heard that GM is going to be putting the D-Max into the Sub in 03 or 04 in a de-tuned state :D . The Allison tranny will not be in the Sub since the Allison is sized different and was never considered to be int he sub frame.

I have considered the 2500HD crew cab with the 8100 and Allison but I have three boys (under 10) and I don't think that is the right family thing to do. The sub offers more passenger room and inside storage for when the kids bring friends.

Welcome to the board!!

I have the same Suburban as you, and the same quandery over a vehicle change.  I have all but made the final decision to go 2500 Avalanche, and am currently working out financial details with my accoutnant and dealer.

My ambulance partner has a E3500 super duty PS, and most of our services 400 ambulances run powerstrokes.  I wouldn't go that way personally, I am not impressed at all with the Ford PS.  Check out the Av 2500, might be a good option, and the 8.1 pickups are great rigs as well.
