Finally started to get things done. Tore off the crankshaft pulley, oil pan, timing cover, and replaced the oil pump. The engine itself looks pretty clean inside which makes me feel better.2 points

I'll just stick to 35's considering I may want to actually use a 4wd truck off road lol. I think I'm gonna wait until they make rear gears available for our trucks before I install the lift and bigger tires. Too sluggish without regearing2 points

For those of you that have noticed oil pressure drops, etc. There IS a screen below the oil pressure sending unit that does become clogged!! I have an 07 GMC Sierra, 4x4 Crew Cab, SLE2 package, 144,000 miles. 5.3 litre. I change my oil faithfully at 3000 mile intervals, use Castrol GTX High Mileage oil and Purolator oil filters. Air filter gets replaced every other oil change. Now for what happened...... very cold day, pulled out onto the Interstate and accelerated only to hear the truck rev, and go nowhere. Dropped it out of overdrive and got going, then lost that gear. Limped it to a shop in 2nd....yes the tranny went out. Had a new tranny installed and the mechanics called me and said when they test drove the truck, it had lost oil pressure and shut down. They replaced the oil pressure switch, and it had 40 psi of pressure but slowly dropped down to nothing and shut off. By now the first thought was oil pump or pick up. I called a couple of shops to get answers, and no one ever mentioned (or had even heard of) a screen located just below the oil pressure switch. Called local GM dealer and did confirm that there indeed is a small screen below the switch. $5.80 filter screen. We pulled the old one out, put in the new screen, reinstalled the new pressure switch and all is good. Now some of you may know about this little screen/filter. But I did not, and neither did a few reputable shops. Basically I am posting this to inform others. That's what we're all here for. I'm not sure if this filter is installed on other engines, or even what model year. Maybe someone that knows can chime in. In this case it really paid to call a GM dealership with a good service department. I might have been pulling an engine over a $5.80 filter screen. As to why it plugged up, I'm not sure. We cut apart the oil filter, and no sludge or foreign material. Hopefully this post will help inform someone and save them some big bucks............Or maybe I live in an area where we are way behind on our info on GM vehicles....lol1 point

I was asking way too much when I was trying to sell my 69 RS, and someone offered decently close(it was my first offer, so looked like a good sign) and I turned it down, finally sold it for a lot less. That was depressing.1 point

Yes, BBP is only 2 full time employees, so opening a phone line would really bog things down. Between inperson tunes, mail order tunes, and emails, the guys are pretty much working around the clock. People ask "why don't you just hire someone to answer the phone?". The answer to that is, we would love to, but the probablem would be in training someone to answer technical questions that inevitably get asked. Not to mention the people that just want to chit chat. BBP is keeping the prices down by staying small, but hopefully there is room in the future for expansion! In the meantime, Julie and I are on the forums, and happy to help where we can.1 point

I've already tested my truck with the 37s off road so far no issues just had the shop check it out after the first 500 miles after lift ended up being more about 800 miles. Shop said no rubbing issues and no problems that they could see. They guarantee there work so if it rubs and messes up the tire they will replace it. I already some how got a scratch on one of my new wheels. The shop said they would order a replacement and take care of everything.1 point

In my opinion the $700 is a pretty fair price. The front end alone will take a few hours, another couple for dropping the gas tank and installing the leaf springs, then another hour or so to move the tpms to the new wheels and mount/balance, an alignment and a 15 mile test drive before delivery.1 point

I know my truck 4x4 double cab 3:42's had no problem pulling what I put behind it. I was able to maintain 67 mph going up mountains right at 3800 rpm. I could've gained speed if I wanted to. Truthfully I would have zero problems pulling 6000 pounds. I would take it slower so I could stop easier. This new 4.3, while not a V8, is a very solid performer. You will be just fine with that weight!1 point

you could also do as I am and add a toggle switch to the diode in the mod in this thread that would allow you to have the cargo lights (including rear facing mirror leds) turn on with reverse or not via the switch. This would save you trying to find an additional power source.1 point

I think I got the kit and installed for 1900. This is the best pic I've got for now.1 point

I had the 4.3l with 4wd/3.42 gears Xcab last year, now have the 5.3l with 4wd/3.42 gears Xcab and agree with what you say. In normal driving, the 4.3 and 5.3 drive largely the same. The difference is when you put the pedal on the floor because that's when you tap into the extra horsepower and torque. The 4.3l with 3.42 gears is only 1/2 second slower 0-60mph than the 5.3l with the standard 3.08 gears, the 4.3l moves the truck around very well.1 point

16000 miles on mine. Have towed between 3000-3500 and it did it very well. Worst tank of gas has been 15.3 (towing in western Maryland mountains) and my best has been 22 (running 75 going to Disney). For everyday driving not much difference between it and my brothers 14 CC 5.3. When he steps on his thats the difference. Not enough for me to worry about though...1 point

I'm good with your assessment... and I would agree that the Throttle and Trans are very lazy and downshift clunky-ness needs improvement. I have also noticed the tranny holding an upshift from 2-3 and can't stand it. Hell my 2009 Silverado DCSB 4.8 City truck is more peppy and shifts better than my 2014 RCSB 5.3. I want crisp throttle and shifts, shift timing adjustments and the AFM Delete. After the tune i'm also done and I already have the Airaid MIT, MBRP catback as far as mileage it is also important to me but I rarely do any interstate running and even running 3:73's I really don't think it will suffer to much if i chose to do so. I'm getting ready for a tune myself with Blackbear and so far the customer service is great...so thanks for your opinion on your tune. Let us know if you make any changes. RT1 point

So is mine [emoji23] Think I'll throw a sign in the seat at the cruise ins that says " Not "for sale", but the right offer would take it". Every now and then someone that has plenty of money sees a car they want right then and offer more than they should.1 point

Thanks a lot! My 2008 Silverado just started do the same thing over the weekend. I love my truck but this thing has been in the Dealership shop for oil burning issues and pressure issues multiple times before. I am going to check this on my own this time.1 point

I have had a lot of people asking me about my headlights... All I did was took a dremel tool and cut the clear lens off where it meets the housing. There is a bead of glue from the factory all the way around where the two meet. From there, I took the dremel again and shaved the tabs off for the LED lenses on the top and bottom, also for the turn signal lens so they could be removed. I then sanded and painted all the chrome on the main piece. For the LED lenses and the turn signal I used niteshades paint to black them out. If you do this, i would only only suggest one coat so that the lights are all still visible. To put it all back together, I used plastiweld to put all the lenses back into the main piece. Then I just used black RTV so reseal it all back together and let them sit for 24 hours. I was a little nervous at first but after doing the first one, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I really should have took some pics and maybe did a video, but the last thing on my mind was documenting it. I was trying not to destroy my $650 headlights, lol. If you would like some more info or have any further questions, just message me and I will try to help as best as I can.1 point

Took the two day old truck with 300km on it and put on another 6000km over the last two weeks through Wyoming/Colorado/Utah and did some very light offroading (truck is stock Z71 right now) in Moab. Wish I had gotten a couple more shots of the articulation in this one, the stance was opposite on the driver side with the left rear having about a half inch of clearance from the wheel well. More to come, too many driveway and parking lot shots on here.1 point
