  1. The manual lists a bunch of settings and views available for the heads up display. (I'm still in an '18, so don't have a HUD, but have been reading up...and am interested in what features are really available...) Head-Up Display (HUD) If equipped with HUD, some information about the operation of the vehicle is projected onto the windshield. The image is projected through the HUD lens on top of the instrument panel. The information appears as an image focused out toward the front of the vehicle. The HUD information can be displayed in various languages. The speedometer reading and other numerical values can be displayed in either English or metric units. The language selection is changed through the radio, and the units of measurement is changed through the instrument cluster. See “Settings” in the infotainment manual and “Options” under Instrument Cluster HUD Display on the Windshield Depending on how the vehicle is equipped, the HUD may display some of the following vehicle information and vehicle messages or alerts: . Speed . Audio . Phone . Navigation . Driver Assistance Features . Vehicle Messages Some vehicle messages or alerts displayed in the HUD may be cleared by using the steering wheel controls. Head-Up Display (HUD) Rotation Option If equipped, this feature under the Options menu of the instrument cluster allows for adjusting the angle of the HUD image and changing or turning off the Speed Limit Sign. HUD Rotation: Press the thumb wheel while Adjust Rotation is highlighted to enter Adjust Mode. Scroll to adjust the angle of the HUD display. Press the thumbwheel to confirm and save the setting. This feature may only be available in P (Park). Speed Limit Style Adjustment If equipped, the speed limit style can be changed to a speed limit bar or speed limit sign from the Options menu in the instrument cluster. Press the thumbwheel while Speed Limit Style is highlighted to change the speed sign style or to turn it off. HUD Views There are four views in the HUD. Some vehicle information and vehicle messages or alerts may be displayed in any view. English Shown, Metric Similar Speed View : This displays the speedometer reading in English or metric units, and speed limit. Some information only appears on vehicles that have these features, and when they are active. English Shown, Metric Similar Active Safety View : This displays the speed view along with a driver assistance graphic on the left. Driver assistance graphics show your vehicle, vehicle ahead, gap setting, and lane status information. In addition to driver assistance graphics, pedestrian advisory and trailer sway indicators will be displayed. Navigation/Active OnStar View :This displays the speed view along with indicators for vehicle ahead, Lane Departure Warning/Lane Keep Assist, trailer sway, and pedestrian advisory. Turn-by-Turn navigation information is shown during active route. The compass heading is displayed when navigation routing is not active. Navigation Turn-by-Turn Alerts shown in the instrument cluster may also be displayed in any HUD view. Off Road View : This displays the speed view along with indicators for vehicle ahead, Lane Departure Warning/Lane Keep Assist, trailer sway, four-wheel drive status, and pedestrian advisory. Off-road information such as pitch angle, steering angle, and rolling angle is also shown.
  2. And AC in a house...with thermostat! Where will it all end!!
  3. Tank size is one reasons I'm back in a 2500. (changed in 2020, but they have been all 36 gallon since 2011) There are larger tank sizes available from aftermarket for the 2500/3500 diesels --- but they are not offered for gasoline. I suspect the probability of the aftermarket offering a larger gasoline tank for a 1500 is very low. Even the bed mounted 'transfer tanks' (which are used primarily for fueling equipment rather than direct connection to the vehicle) seem to not be available with gasoline certification. I regularly run 580 - 600 miles on a fill with the dmax and factory tank. Of course that's not towing. Also, it won;t do that when it is used strictly for short run 'in town' type work.
  4. It's all about the batteries. The continue to be improved daily. Both storage capacity and quick-charge ability. Wasn't many years ago battery powered hand tools were considered 'impossible' ... now they seem to be mandatory on most job sites. Wasn't many years ago battery powered cars were considered 'impossible'... etc etc... I gotta agree we're not there today, but the story isn't completely written yet. Who knows what is being tested that hasn't been made public.
  5. Max 5th wheel trailer ratings, 2019 2500 dmax order guide: All dmax are 3.73, CC is 2wd CK is 4wd, 743 is std box crew, 943 is long box crew CC25743 15400 (6985) CC25943 14800 (6713) CK25743 13500 (6124) CK25943 12400 (5625) 2500 crew std box, 2wd rated 1900 lbs higher than 4wd 2500 crew long box, 2wd rated 2400 lbs higher than 4wd (side note: Ball hitch ratings for above models are 13000 for short box and 14500 for long box) All duallies are long box, so there are no '743' numbers for drw. CC35743 w/SRW 17500 (7938) CC35943 w/SRW 17400 (7893) CC35943 w/DRW 23100 (10478) CK35743 w/SRW 17200 (7802) CK35943 w/SRW 17200 (7802) CK35943 w/DRW 22700 (10297) 3500 CC Std box, 2wd rated 300 lbs higher than 4wd 3500 CC srw long box, 2wd rated 200 lbs higher than 4wd 3500 CC drw, 2wd rated 400 lbs higher than 4wd. 4wd crew std box 3500 is 3700 lbs higher than 2500 4wd crew long box, 3500 srw is 4800 higher than 2500 4wd crew long box 3500 drw is 5500 higher than 3500 srw 4wd crew long box 3500 drw is 10,300 higher than 2500 And just for fun, when looking at 3500 DRW Tow ratings the dmax is significantly higher than the gasser. (SRW's the numbers are closer.) Payload ratings the gasser is a significantly higher. (Again, in SRW, the numbers are closer). These kinda show why we need to look the ratings up rather than making assumptions about the rating for a certain model version. Right truck for the job, and all that crap. Relationships between various models could be all different for the 2020 trucks, with the all new frames, axles, and cooling systems. For sure there are higher tow ratings available at the upper end.
  6. Spinning without engaging has NOTHING to do with it being a push button. Both the key and push button systems (and also the remote start, for that matter) just send an input to the computer. As raisedbywolves pointed out, the starter drive not engaging (resulting in a free-wheeling starter) has always been an occasional problem. The hammer certainly isn't a 'repair' solution, but sometimes it will get you home. I think I'd be pissed that the shop just gave an NPF diagnosis.
  7. I kinda agree with you, but it's been 15 years since GM agreed with that. Somebody in marketing didn't like the 5'8' box on the 1500 crews being referred to as the short short box....
  8. While it is possible that GM will go to a different system, and still use G80 as the order code, here is a video of the Eaton system. Also possible they could use different systems in different vehicles....
  9. I've been known to shut if off, get out, lock with fob and then do a remote start while walking into store. Doesn't solve the length of idle issue, but will keep heater running til the time-out. Usually long enough for a quick stop.
  10. Carplay or AA will get the GPS from you phone onto the screen.
  11. Won't be long and someone will try it....
  12. LM2 (3.0) includes a block heater, just like it's big brother has always had. If it's like the 2020+ HD, the cord is now separate and connects to a plug somewhere on the front of the truck, instead of being coiled up inside the engine compartment. Hence the 'under the back seat comment. I'd guess he's suggesting to make sure the cord didn't get removed from the truck. Loose accessories sometimes seem to end up in the clean up department or in some sales persons office, or just swiped by someone. Especially if the truck was sitting on the lot. Assuming it starts like the 6.6L's, the block heater won't be needed to well below 0*F/-10*C. In media release, GM claims the 3.0L will start unassisted as low as -30C/-22F and assisted as low as -40C/-40F From: https://media.gm.ca/media/ca/en/gm/news.detail.html/content/Pages/news/ca/en/2019/Jun/0603-silverado.html Ceramic glow plugs used in the Duramax 3.0L heat up more quickly and hotter than conventional metal-based glow plugs, helping the engine start and heat up more quickly in cold weather. The Duramax 3.0L achieves unassisted and assisted starting temperatures of -30 C (-22 F) and -40 C (-40 F) respectively.
  13. It won't notify you unless it is having troubles getting successful regened. (and gives the 'keep driving' message) You dealer can connect to it and tell you how many regens it has done. If the regen happens when you are on the highway, it's really easy to miss the signs -- unless you are running on a steady pull and happen to be looking at one of the fuel economy screens.
  14. 9L7 Upfitter switch kit, (5), Provides 3-30 amp and 2-20 amp configurable circuits to facilitate installation of aftermarket electrical accessories. Kit with all required parts will be shipped loose with the truck for installation by the dealer or upfitter at customer expense. Installation instructions and technical assistance available at www.gmupfitter.com. https://www.gmupfitter.com/files/media/photo/1314/UI Bulletin 153_wip.pdf
  15. FWIW, on L5P : Venturi Jet Drain Oil Separator • First of its type in the new Duramax 6.6L • Designed to ensure oil control in sustained full-load operation • Totally sealed system that collects misted oil entrained in the blow-by gas, allowing for re-use in the engine • Less sophisticated systems result in oil carryover into the cylinders during combustion
  16. How they are driven/used is everything. I get significantly better than that with my '18 --- with my 'normal' usage. Which means it doesn't do a lot of miles of short / in town runs. It rarely tows. Wish I had a '20 to run for a while to see how it would perform for my application.
  17. Compare the inside of the winter rims with the inside of the ones that came on the truck. You might find that the inside of the rim is interfering with / pushing the caliper sideways. If you can't turn wheel with the truck jacked up try turning it with the wheel is loosened but not removed. I guess my opinion is worth what it cost, but I can't imagine, a wheel sensor would prevent the brakes from releasing. (after all, what would happen if a few years as sensor batteries begin to fail --- ???)
  18. Are the winter wheels the same ones you used on your '14? Are the rims hitting on the calipers? (with the truck jacked up, can you turn the wheel(s) by hand?)
  19. ACC is not currently 'standard' on any 2020 Sierra trim level.
  20. Sees the 2020 Sierra Owners Manual says that the ACC can be switched back to regular cruise, if desired. Switching Between ACC and Regular Cruise Control To switch between ACC and regular cruise control, press and hold *. A Driver Information Display (DIC) message displays. See Vehicle Messages pg 156. When ACC is engaged, a green indicator will be lit on the instrument cluster and the following gap will be displayed. When the regular cruise control is engaged, a (different) green indicator will be lit on the instrument cluster; the following gap will not display. When the vehicle is turned on, the cruise control mode will be set to the last mode used before the vehicle was turned off. And there's more, of course. And of course, this doesn't mean that's how it works in a Yukon. Some of GM's ACC literature indicates there may be differences in how if functions in different applications (or maybe just different ACC generations)
  21. GM media has mentioned/discussed the exhaust brake for the 3.0L. https://media.chevrolet.com/media/us/en/chevrolet/home.detail.html/content/Pages/news/us/en/2019/jun/0603-silverado.html I believe I've seen others with more detail than what is provided in the above link. From Techlink: 3.0L Diesel Engine The diesel exhaust brake function on the 3.0L diesel engine is part of the Tow/Haul Mode Grade Braking system. Tow/Haul Mode Grade Braking is only enabled while the Tow/Haul Mode is selected. https://gm-techlink.com/?p=12048
  22. These are all for the 1500 with 3.0L Dmax 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2WD Short Bed/Crew Cab 7,600 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 4WD Short Bed/Crew Cab 9,300 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2WD Standard Bed/Crew Cab 7,500 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 4WD Standard Bed/Crew Cab 9,200 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2WD Standard Bed/Double Cab 7,600 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 4WD Standard Bed/Double Cab 9,300 Sierra similar, but generally a couple 100 lbs less in each case. http://gmauthority.com/blog/2019/11/chevrolet-silverado-gmc-sierra-1500-diesel-tow-ratings-might-increase-soon/ I didn't check the order guide to verify the article for every cab/box/2/4wd combo, but it seems the 2wd's are mid 7000's and 4wd''s a little over 9000
  23. He probably thought of that, and FWIW, it's not in the diesel supplement, and there is no dipstick. This is what the 2020 diesel supplement says says. (basically the same as the regular owners manual.): When to Check and Change Automatic Transmission Fluid It is usually not necessary to check the transmission fluid level. The only reason for fluid loss is a transmission leak or overheated transmission. This vehicle is not equipped with a transmission fluid level dipstick. There is a special procedure for checking and changing the transmission fluid in these vehicles. Because this procedure is difficult, this should be done at your dealer. Contact your dealer for additional information or refer to the service manual for the procedure. Change the fluid and filter at the scheduled maintenance intervals listed in Maintenance Schedule pg 81. Be sure to use the transmission fluid listed in Recommended Fluids and Lubricants pg 85. Apparently we need the info from the service manual. Probably that's what the OP was hoping someone could provide. Sorry, I don't have the information (or a service manual to look it up)
  24. So is regular cruise.... But I've learned to predict traffic and use the +/- buttons to adjust cruise set speed to reduce the number of times I need to take over using the pedals. I'll be interested in adaptive....but I don't expect it to work on it's own in all situations.
  25. They've come a long way in a couple of generations of 5.3....
