  1. I've read that comment other places too, but after years of operating LMM, LML and L5P I've never had it occur. Yes, release the brake in a hard. flat location and it will roll ahead, but it's same as when the dmax is not in regen and the same as gas engine vehicles that I've run.
  2. I hear ya, but running them for 12 of last 15 years I've never had one leave me on the side of the road.
  3. This thread makes me glad I have a 6.6 diesel....
  4. Some just prefer the way they drive. If it was strictly needs based, lot's of truck users would have to run something else.
  5. Likely. In any case, a couple quarts per oil change doesn't change the cost of ownership in a material way.
  6. Lots of Carplay issues get 'fixed' by powering down and restarting the phone.... Best of all it's cheap and easy to try.
  7. Won't be that long... https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a30303240/gm-nhtsa-talks-autonomous-vehicles-no-steering-wheels/
  8. Careful what you wish for. No steering wheel is close. https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2018/01/12/577688125/gm-says-car-with-no-steering-wheel-or-pedals-ready-for-streets-in-2019
  9. Ran 1500's for a bunch of years. Ran several 6.6 dmax trucks for about 10 years. Needs changed again and decided I could make do with a 1500 again. I'm back in a 2500. Don't need one, but I prefer the way they drive and ride. I do run lower tire pressure when not loaded and not towing. Most of my usage is rural 2 lane. Some freeway, some city and some light towing.
  10. That is the gauge level indicator . Imho they shouldn't be called a gauge. When the 'indicator' thinks there is less than 30% of tank capacity left, if will give a % number instead of the 'ok message'. When it thinks you are down to 1000 miles range til empty, the dic will pop a message saying so. On mine, this occurs somewhere near 20% (+/-). When it thinks it has 300 miles til empty it will give a DIC message, and it will update the message each time it is restarted. This message will be dismissed. When it thinks it is empty, it will give an empty message and will start and mileage countdown from 500 miles. This message/display will not clear/cannot be dismissed. 500 miles after empty it is supposed to limit speed to 65 mph for (iirc) 75 miles. Then xx miles at 55 mph. Then 5 mph. DEF usage is proportional to fuel usage. If towing uses twice as much fuel as not towing then it will also use twice as much def.
  11. No need to make it overflow. Stop filling (or pumping if using bulk) when the sound changes as the level gets close to the bottom of the fill tube. An alternative is to wait until at least the 1000 mile range warning (or the 300) and then just add ONE 2.5 gallon jug. Mine usually gives the 1000 mile warning somewhere near 18 to 22% on the def level 'indicator'. Adding til it's at or close to overflow means the jug being used probably isn't empty. I don't like keeping an open jug around, so I often use the one jug system if I'm not expecting to be near a bulk pump location. Couple months later - repeat.
  12. 2.7L and 4.3L hold 6qt. The 3.0L holds 7 qt, The 5.3L, 6.2 L and 6.6L (gas) hold 8qt. The 6.6L Duramax holds 10qt.
  13. It is illegal to manufacture or sell in the us or canada any diesel that is not ULSD. (there was a time during the conversion of the fuel supply when both LSD and ULSD were available; road fuels were changed first) Even coloured 'off road fuel' is ULSD. Dye is just (now) used to indicate whether the road tax was paid. Yes, there is diesel that is not ULSD available in parts of Mexico.
  14. Hood open switch isn't something new....
  15. I think PYU was the rpo code....don't know what the p/n would be.

  17. Gas or diesel? 6.6 Dmax 'tick' is normal. I don't know what noises the 6.6 gas makes or doesn't make.
  18. Yes, it's an important consideration 'here' if considering selling privately and then buying in a separate transaction. Trade with $15k difference, then tax is $15,000 x 0.13 or $1950. Sell private and then pay say $75,000 for new and the tax is $9750. Means the private sale would need to be $9750 -$1950 = $7800 higher than the trade-in value to be equivalent bottom line on the transaction(s). Of course, dealers know this too, and adjust their offers so they get most of the benefit from doing the trade... Part of the reason it's so high is that the wholesale level taxes that used to be hidden in the selling price were removed and incorporated in the new system. The tax is both federal and provincial (state) combined. We don't have local sales taxes.
  19. Don't you just pay tax on the difference between the trade and the new? Here (and based on other threads) if the difference between trade in and purchase was $10,000, then the tax would just on the $10,000. (and of course if someone buys the trade in, they also pay tax on their 'difference', or the total if there is no trade) I don't know what your tax rate is, but here we pay 13%, so $5,000 tax would have meant a difference of $38,000 or so.
  20. Adaptive cruise was a new option for 2020.
  21. OTOH, it's' hard to believe people buy a $40k+ vehicle without ensuring it has the options that are important to them....
  22. Sure they can.... When a Cdn truck is set to inch units instead of metric, it displays mpg for 31/62/404 instead of 25/50/400 My L5P currently is at 31 - 34.1 62 - 29.8 404 - 24.4 It has lots and lots of full tank averages over 20 mpg which means 600 miles between fillups. On flat 2 lane with no wind I get the 'last 31' over 25 regularly. Yes, it does lots of steady state driving with cruise on. No, it doesn't tow much. DEF is a little over 1100 mpg.
  23. That video has all the normal dmax ticks and rattles AND it has a KNOCK that isn't normal to my ear. I've listened to lots of videos' that owners think are a problem, but that I consider 'normal'. The KNOCK/THUD in the video isn't anything I'd consider as normal. Someone that is not used to hearing all the noises that a dmax makes probably doesn't recognize the KNOCK as being unusual - so can't/don't pick it out from the other noises.
  24. Dealer I use has their own fleet of 'loaners'.
  25. Are you sure it has the capability? I thought the HUD had a much larger opening in the top of the dash than what is there for forward collision warning dot?
