  1. Anyone try adding a fourth bar to the leaf spring assembly yet? Just curious. This forum repeats the same info over and over so haven't seen by skimming.
  2. I could be completely wrong here, but I just installed nfab wheel to wheel Nerf bars today and noticed something. After the install, I jumped on the highway to run some errands and noticed my vibe has changed. Seems slower and less pronounced. The bars basically end and turn in right before the front side mud flaps on the rear wheels. Does anyone not have these flaps or removed them and still vibe? Are these things doing exactly what they are called? Flapping at 70 plus mph? The are pretty ridgid and could shake the bed I guess. Just throwing darts at the troubleshooting board here. Just asking in case it changes nothing. Don't want to try mine and bust em up by accident. Thanks.
  3. - I have the Goodforoneyears P rated here. Have the highway vibe issue. Full rear end swap out from driveshaft back. Suspension. Shimmed. Still vibrates. But one difference was in the winter, I live in Maine, it was extremely cold. So my tire pressure was low 30-32 and when heated up to 35. Barely felt any vibe. Now that its warming up, pressure goes up to 38-40 when highway speeds and the vibe at its normal. I'm pretty much letting these tires burn out then going to LT rated destination AT's. Don't know if it will help but its the only thing GM doesn't seem to want to change. The tires. And if they do, they just put more SRA's on it. Which everyone is having trouble road forcing. Others have swapped tires to different brands, and the issue remains. Not blaming tires/wheels in total, cause there definitely is another major issue, but they can't be helping. I mean I like my truck. I just think of it as a $45,000 v8 powered heated massage chair. That and the other brands have their own issues. All new means all new problems. Bought the all new Nissan titan in 2004. I'll take some vibe over that nightmare again. Ha. Toyota had the same issue few years back. Not sure if it was the tundra or Tacoma, but there is a video on you tube on it. A fake baby in a car seat. But,I guess we will find out the real reason in about 5 years or so when people are starting to hurt and gm is forced to fess up. Typical GM.
  4. @Ssguy85. Thanks. That does sound pretty good. Im looking for quality>quantity, so loudness isn't priority. Ill look into that one more. Was looking at the Borla S type but man are they pricey. Pypes has a Violator muff that sounds decent also, but its really hard to tell through a video. As for drone yeah, getting used to that. Im on my 3rd oem muffler due to the little flapper failing. Get the high pitched whistle when it comes out of v4, and when in v4 around 40 mph it gets pretty bad. Like a large subwoofer on a bad note. But again, thanks
  5. Hey all, got a '14 silvy (5.3) and looking to add a cat back system. I guess what im looking for is a nice deep tone that will stay constant through the rpms. I put the flowmaster american thunder set on my 04' titan (had it welded instead of the clamp set up)and sounded great on start up and lower rpms, but at higher rpms and under heavy petal it made a clapping type noise that i hated. Made it sound cheap imo. Is there a brand type known exclusively for deep deep tones? Or a certain length of the muffler change this? I guess what im looking for is more a deep chested Great Danes growl versus the angry Pitbulls bark if you get my jist. Thanks for any input.
  6. Well, I've sort of fixed my 2014 Chevy Viberado LT with the 5.3 EcoTick engine. I put the "V" back on for Vibrator. Im surely it was on there before I took the test drive, but must've shaken off when I hit 70+ mph, and never noticed it.

  9. Mine had the bad vibe at 70 plus. They "worked on it" and got the vibrations at highway speeds down id say 70%. BUT!! It vibrates all the time now. Especially when torque is needed or accelerating from a dead stop.
  10. In the state of maine, lemon requirments are 3 failed attempts for safety issue, or serious depreciation issue. I needed proof. Nissan helped. The vibration is considered an in convenience.
  11. Well, tired of my 2014 Chevrolet Viberado LT - went shopping for new trucks just to see how they ride ect ect. Came out of a 2004 Titan SE off-road, and really like the 2014 Titan Pro-4X - took it for a test ride and rides nice - so now the money issue comes up - willing to take a bit of a loss to get out of this over engineered WeebleWobble - but the dealer did something I never experienced before - they asked if I minded that they take MINE for a test ride - 2014 with 2500 miles? why? its new? I just don't like it? Hmmm... now im worried - so they come back - service guys whispers some crap to the dealer - dealer sits down and scribbles some crap - $25,000 trade in - for a 2 month old $46,000 truck. and wont budge, wont argue, wont deal. I understand some loss due to being a one owner vehicle now and all, but damn... Reason? cause " im going to have to resell that" - think the word is out boys.......
  12. Hmm. I live in maine where the speed limit is 70 mph with a 5 mph legal buffer, so can do 75 all day with no tickets. North of Bangor/Orono is posted 75 mph with the 5 buffer so 80 is top speed. Thats on I95. So they cant use that here either. Maybe they really are designed to vibrate at high speeds. The faster, these trucks go, to less fuel ecomony they get due to having the same aerodynamic styling as a chest freezer. Kia pays their cutomers for some models for every mile they drive because the cars could not due the mpg posted on the window sticker. Lol.
  13. I wonder how many of them vibrate at highway speeds.
  14. Well, got my truck back after visit #4. New shaft, and see shims inbetween my leafsprings. Guess to change the shaft angle. Also replaced a tire that had a,road force of 30. Took it for a test drive and seem to be better. Not fixed but better. Almost livable. Live an hour away and about 45 minutes into the drive, presto, vibes are back.not a complete constant like before, more like coming and going waves. Instead of putting my hand through my nice my link radio screen, i pulled over and took a deep breath. When getting back on the highway i launched pretty hard and the rear end shuddered bad. Like i had a subwoofer in my bed. Hit the accelerater hard again and it repeated. Stop signs, red lights, everytime. Not only that, i can feel the shaft at all speeds now. At this point, i wish they wouldnt have fixed that cold weather idling issue.
  15. So my truck is in for the fourth visit. They had done the new drive shaft and angle shim try. This actually made it a lot worse. So i jumped in my dealer paid rental and left. Today i got a call, and they explained they retested the tires for road force. One of the tires had a high road force and was to be replaced as soon as it came in tomorrow. Hmmm. My very first visit for this whole ordeal, they tested road force, and all were good, except one. One was high, but "within specs". Now its no longer within spec. Wonder when they changed that. This is getting rediculous.
  16. So my truck went in for the 3rd time today. Waited 5 weeks for a new driveshaft and muffler ( had the annoying squeak whenever the engine came out of v4 ). They changed the shaft and they said the problem remains. Now they checking shaft angle ect. ect. The dealer is being cool about the situation, but can start to see they are running out of GM scripted lies and smiles. Not sure why they dont think this is a safety issue. Something is vibrating so badly it shakes a 5000 lb. plus piece of steel violently. Its bound to break. But hey, they basically got away with negligent homicicde with the starter issues. Why give a crap now? But anyway, to get gm to really do anything we as unsatisfied and concerned consumers need to file on the Nhtsa site. There is over 200 pages of complaints on this site alone. But on the Nhtsa, there are 32 complaints on the 2014 siverado/sierra. Only 2 of them were for vibration. Thats why GM feels they dont need to do anyt h ing.
  17. Mine is also from Fort Wayne. Build date 6/14. Still pumping out bad ones.
  18. Oops. Double print. On phone....
  19. Was climbing around underneath my truck the other day looking around for possible culprits, and when I do I usually use the main drive shaft as kind of a monkey bar to slide up and down. This is the first truck I have owned to where I noticed the main shaft moves around. (Up and down, side to side) due to the transfer case on a rubber harmonic bushing. Could a low density rubber bushing (too soft) be allowing the prop shaft to lose some its centripetal center and what we are feeling is actually the front side of the shaft and transfer case vibrating? Anyone try removing the rubber piece and fabricate a solid mount yet? I've seen people putting cameras under their trucks and looking for axle movement but how about the tc/shaft connection? 20. update on my vehicle - been to the dealers twice so far - first time rf'd and balanced the tires to no help - actually made it worse - the second time a rep came out with me for a test ride - he said he could hear and feel the vehicle was definitely shaking and breaking "rhythm" , that it wasnt the frame vibration from hitting bumps he was hoping for and wanted to see if it was tire or truck. one of the employees had a '14 with same set up that didn't shake at all and was willing to swap tires for a test ride - unfortunately the problem remained - so they ordered a rear shaft - while out on the test ride he also noticed when ever the truck came out of v4 there was an audible screech - upon further investigation he noted that an exhaust valve was faulty and ordered another exhaust for it - made me a little happy knowing these guys were actually looking for issues rather than the usual " they just kinda do that" brush off - on the way home stopped at my local tire shop to order tires for the wifes dodge caravan - manager commented on my new truck and we got talking about the vibration - said he was curious, that a new truck shouldn't do that and would be willing to rf and balance the tires for just the price of a balance - said go for it - found 3 tires out of balance "just left the dealer mind you" and one of the tires had a rf of 25 and the limit was 26 - fought that tire for awhile and couldn't get it any better - the rest were 17 or lower - so I don't know - im baffled, confused - I paid a new car price - just want that new car feel - plus to top all this off it started doing something new - every once in awhile when coasting to a stop, the truck will downshift hard and an audible pop can be heard from under the hood, almost like a muffled backfire from behind the firewall - anyone had this one? got an itchy trigger finger for bedliner ,tonneau cover, rain vents, bug deflector, running boards, but its staying naked till its straightened out - good times
  21. have a question bout the oem muffler - noticed when looking for the eav valve on the back side of the muffler, there is a hole on the bottom, in the crease of the sidewall basically - is this a bad weld or some sort of drain? also, was looking for the ol flapper valve due to the loud squeak when coming out of v4 into v8 - figured this was the culprit - can it be lubricated or modified in anyway to stop it from doing so? thanks - just keeping everything stock for the moment - dealing with the rear end vibration issue with dealer/gm and don't want to give them any reasons to start waving fingers at me -
  22. Been reading the posts, not only on here but others as well and this seems to be a wide spread issue. I just bought a 2014 Chevy Silverado - Tungsten Metallic - V8 5.3 - 3.42 rear - Z71 LT loaded (basically a LTZ without leather/Bose) and Goodyear Wrangler SRA 18"s.... test drive was fine, Fortunately for dealer there is nowhere to test 70 plus mph highway speeds. I buy truck, has 5 miles on it, get on highway a ways away to get home and as soon as I hit 70 plus mph the truck begins shaking wildly. 78 mph seems to be the terribad number. Get off highway and Route 1 the rest of the way home. Dealer now closed. Call dealers service next morning and they politely tell me GM recommends driving the vehicle 500 miles before complaining. ( in so many words ). So I do so and set up appt. They tell me they Rf'd tires and were acceptable, but balance was off on all 4, reset, and rotated. Now its even worse. Now I have terrible regular driving speed noise from the tires ( like in driving on M/T's )and shakes at highway speeds. Plus during the 500 mile "break in" every time the truck comes out of V4 to V8 there is a loud screech noise. Service tells me this is normal. When decelerating, ( ~40-30 mph, and 30-20 mph ) feels like im on a rumble strip the engine shakes like a standard transmission getting ready to stall. Service tells me this is normal. Setting up another appt. with service for rear-end vibration and see where this goes. Ford has the "Eddie Bauer" edition, seems like I got the "Michael J. Fox" edition and should at least get it embroidered on the seats for free if unable to fix. $44k. so unimpressed... I hope its just bad tires...
