  1. Have you taken your truck to a Carmax yet? You might get a better offer selling it to them than the dealer is offering you.
  2. I am not sure, could be. My truck does it with the stock exhaust but the aftermarket muffler just amplified it. The good thing about the Dynomax system is that if you don't like it then they will let you send it back to them for free and they will refund your money. Took a long time to get my check from them but if finally showed up last week.
  3. The flutter is what bothered me about the Dynomax VT, very noticeable to me with the throttle barely pushed in V4 mode. Plus sounded like stock at idle.
  4. According to Edmunds and KBB my truck after 1 year of ownership is worth more than I paid for it. You got to remember that the huge rebates on these trucks also greatly affects it used and trade in value. My truck stickered at 43k but I paid closer to 31K and so did alot of people on this forum. If I traded today I would not expect to get more than 26K for it if I was lucky. Don't let a bum truck ruin your life. Trade it, take the loss and move on with life!
  5. Consider I have scraped mine on my "off road" truck a couple of times at stock height I can see why you wouldn't want to paint it!
  6. Looks good lowered! Have you thought about painting the air dam to match?
  7. Here is a picture of mine after I cleaned it up a couple of months ago. Nothing special been done to it except I debadged the tailgate and painted the front bowtie black. I am still debating if I want to take the silverado emblem off the doors or not but haven't had time to deal with it.
  8. Nice truck! How did you get the insets of your rims and the bowtie painted black? Plastidip, regular paint, vinyl? Been wanting to do something similar to mine.
  9. The AFM is a killer for those of us who like a deep and mellow V8 sound. I been putting exhausts on my V8's for over 20 years, from loud to mild but this new generation truck is severely handicapped when it comes to a nice exhaust tone because of the V4. I was hoping the dynomax VT was going to be the answer but for me it was very dissapointing in both sound and the "chopper" sound at slight throttle in V4.
  10. You drove the truck for a year without any weights on the rims?!?! No wonder you had shaking/vibration problems.
  11. I doubt the dealer took any kind of loss selling you the truck and I am pretty sure if there is a mistake in the listing that they don't have to sell you the truck at that price. They would rather take the chance of you taking them to court before they take a loss on any vehicle on their lots. Good luck with your next one!
  12. That has been mentioned before as well, guess these trucks shiver when they get cold!
  13. As I mentioned before, my 2012 F150 work truck has a painted frame but after 3 years it is also got lots of rust in different spots on the frame. The paint maybe better than the wax but not much better.
  14. Vehicle manufacturers have been letting vehicles out the door with all kinds of problems for years, this vibration thing is not the first of GM's many problems over the years. When you buy a re-design in its first year or two then you are always taking a higher chance that there is going to be problems and the vibration is one of many of those issues. Older and wiser men have always told me to let a new design mellow for a few years before you buy it. GM will fix the problem but with future new trucks, not ones already sold. If it makes any of you feel any better my 2012 Ford work truck is going back into the shop for its second transmission in its first 50k miles.
  15. My 2002 chevy's frame had lots of surface rust but was structurally sound. I can not say the same for the sheet metal, brake, fuel, and transmission lines though, they were all in rough shape when I traded it in. Made me think long and hard if I wanted another Chevy but I too saw the statement in the brochure about how it was designed to resist rust so I took the plunge again. Time will tell I guess. For now I am just cleaning up what rust I find on the frame and spraying over it.
  16. You disable AFM so it won't go into 4cyl mode and then put any muffler you want on it. As long as AFM is enabled then you are going to have unwanted sounds when it goes into 4 cylinders. Everybody is different on how they feel about the V4 drone but I have owned 3 other V8 chevy trucks with a flowmaster on them and love the sound but I don't think I am going to get that sound out of this truck till I tune out V4.
  17. Tire pressure as it relates to vibration has already been covered in the long "shake and vibration" thread, you ought to have a read! Also, running 45 psi in P rated tires are going to wear the centers out fast, especially in the back tires. My truck has had a vibration problem since I bought it but it is not bad enough to where I will take it in to people who don't have a clue what they are doing. I am pretty sure mine vibes are tire related but I wan't know for sure till I get new tires.
  18. I am pushing 40 but have had a full size chevy truck with some type of flowmaster on it since I was 23. I thought this truck was too quiet so I tried out the Dynomax VT but it just was not the sound I was after. I am starting to like my quiet truck now but still not overly impressed with the gas mileage when comparing it to my old truck or my f150 work truck.
  19. The tires also play a huge role in mpg on trucks. The stock tires are very light and "AT" tires are really no more than street tires. Put on an LT AT tire and you going to lose 10% at least on your gas mileage. I don't do much off roading in my personal truck but I love the look of an AT tire where the tread goes all the way out and doesn't cup in the stockers. I am going to keep my goodyear oem's on mine till they wear out though, too tight to buy a new set of tires just for the look.
  20. Hate to hear about your problems and while the shaking sucks how does that show that the truck was "not reliable". Did it break down on you or something?
  21. I guess some trucks are different, mine is usually .7 off of what it should be.
  22. I've never been in a vehicle that was right on when it comes to mpg. My f150 work truck, my jeep, and my motorcycle and my silverado are all between .5 and 1 mpg off to the high side.
  23. My truck had rust spots as well that I did not notice till I got it home, didn't think about crawling under a brand new truck to see what the frame looked like. I complained to the dealer I bought it from and they sprayed some sort of oily stuff that dried hard on the parts of the frame they could get to. Didn't know about the rust stuff till I started poking around this forum last year. My truck was built in Ft. Wayne in December of 2013 (bought it in August of 2014). I suspect what they sprayed will eventually fall off because nothing was prepped before hand.
  24. I have played with the PSI a little bit to see if that makes a difference but honestly I am rarely on the interstate in this truck, mostly on county roads and 4-lanes with 55 mph speed limits. I did notice that back in the winter the truck vibrated more when I first left the house and as the tires warmed up things got better. The vibration I randomly get at 70-80 mph is what stumps me. Doesn't do it everytime so that tells me it is transmission/torque converter or something of the like. I was noticing every vibration in my chevy but have quit doing that after riding around in my wifes Grand Cherokee. That thing is smooth as it can be but the water in bottles do vibrate somewhat, about the same as my chevy. I feel bad for the ones who have the really bad vibes but I think alot of people are complaining about more slight vibrations which is probably a tire or wheel slightly out of balance or some of driveline component that is slightly out of spec.
  25. Like I said a few posts back, my 3 year old F150's frame is covered in rust. So much for painting them being much better.
