  1. If you don't need the aggressive look of say a Nitto Ridge Grappler or the like, there is no better highway all-season than the Michelin Defender LTX. Legendary for a good reason (OEM spec'd Ford Super Duty units notwithstanding). 33k out of stock isn't bad. All OEMs spec a lower quality tire even if it has the same name as the retail counterparts. Actual retail tires of the same name are always higher quality and better performing. Just be glad you didn't get stuck with the hot garbage that is the Firestone Transforce like I did.
  2. TFL responds to the video take down at 20:00 min mark. Sounds like they tried to be cool with it, but here some of you are with the pitch forks before hearing both sides. Typical. I bought an Ike Gauntlet hoodie a few years back. I like the channel and wanted to support it. It's no different than Disney or Nintendo trying to protect their IP and if Romans story is to be believed, they did it in a lot cooler way than the big corps of this world would have. But, yeah, F them for going after some rando copy cat trying to make money just like them right?
  3. It will work for 23s. 2024s have Global B com system. They are pretty much stuck stock, possibly even tire size, for life because of the hardcore encryption and ability for the mothership to over-the-air it back to stock.
  4. You don't even need to pry them up. Just start going with an open end wrench and the upward movement of the nut will force them off without damaging the plastic inner teeth. They'll pop back on after.
  5. I put Bilstein 5100s on. They are a little softer feeling than the harsh Ranchos but I'm still on stock OEM garbage spec Firestones and I think they have a lot to do with transmitting the jolts. Hoping that with the 5100s and some better retail spec rubber that the truck lightens up from its shopping cart ride. Torsion bars and leaf springs and 7,000#s and what can we really expect though. With no coils on any corner I don't think it will ever achieve "pleasant".
  6. I'm willing to caution a guess that a Whipple equipped 6-speed truck could outperform the Global B locked 10-speed truck. Modded to stock unfair? Yes. However, at least there's the option to do so. 10-speed could be great, but 401hp and as-delivered tire size (for speedo) for life will end up making the 24+ mothership locked trucks a drag.
  7. The biggest concern with the 10-speed will be the overall price. New owners will love the truck. For us 20-23 guys, you have to look at the monstrous price increases like someone offered to put bigger screens in your interior and a new trans for $5,000+ Would you say, "Sure! Great deal!" or keep driving the truck that's been doing just fine for you. I got my convivence package Z71 LT with a 51.5k MSRP for 48.9k right in the heart of the shortage (Nov 21). I don't see a fancy screen 10-speed LT leaving the dealer for that for a long time if ever. Dealer I bought mine from has a same optioned truck to mine but 23 coming in and the MSRP is $6,025 more. That's without the screens and 10-speed that's getting another increase for '24. Prayers for the new truck buyers out there.
  8. They only work on the upper vent setting. Meaning, if the vents are set to defrost, or foot heat, they won't blow. GMs "Auto" climate programing HEAVILY favors using defrost & foot for the vents in almost every new GM I've had. Activate your upper vents facing you and reach back and feel for it.
  9. Google is integrated directly into the infotainment system in 2023 1500 LTs and up and 2024 HD LTs and up (and their GMC equivalents). If you are looking for Google Maps, it will be utilized through Android Auto including other apps like Apple Music, Spotify...etc. The stock Chevy head unit can download a few crappy interpretations of apps, but plugging your phone in by USB and using Android Auto will be far superior. When you do so, you basically put a "skin" over the GM operating system. Once in Android Auto, you can use the touch screen to go into Google Maps and also have something like Apple Music...etc playing on the bottom tab of it.
  10. Notice there is no stiching like the front either or a middle drop down arm rest/cupholder. Disgusting gm decontenting at higher prices at it's worst. Buy an LT and get an LT front and WT rear. Unless of course you spring for Convenience Package II for many more thousands of dollars.
  11. Apart from the idiocy of wondering if engaging clutch packs and wearing driveline parts for half the year just 'cause is detrimental to longevity, I have a question. Are the non Auto and the Auto transfer cases the same and the whole auto system boils down to a switch part number and a software update? Seems like a left field shot, but GM only charges $200 for the option. Seems pretty involved for $200 if it wasn't just a different switch and programming. One wonders if buying the switch and adding the option through GM MDI TiS SPS subscription would turn a non Auto into an Auto truck. It's great for transitions in town from plowed main streets to non-plowed laterals.
  12. From videos of taking mirrors apart, it looks like there is a backing plate that the mirror glass attaches to, that screws to the overall mirror housing. This "plate" is what would be needed to add these lights and includes the angled pocket for them. Problem is trying to source this plate. It's clearly a separate part from the mirror but digging it up through grainy part house pictures is proving difficult. As far as wiring, I'm not concerned with OEM function as I would use the Boost Auto high output versions and just tie this into one of my Aux switches. Seems like a relatively straight forward mod if we could source the "plate" that holds the mirror glass and houses these lights. Looks like it's going to be a PITA to find according to this thread. I saw a stamped P/N in a video removal 807303 so internally its a GM part, just not externally to the public.
  13. It seems to be time based on mine. If I keep it on an info screen for a time, it "remembers" that screen. Next fire up, it will be on it if I switch over from home. To get it back to what I want, I have to keep it on for a ride and it will be there next fire up. Just weird programming logic. Also very laggy and slow compared to my 2016 LT 1500 and 2020 Traverse. GM must have cheaped out on the processor or something in it to save a few cents. They've been decontenting little stuff like crazy last few years.
  14. Look into something like this: During my research, I saw people doing to the 8-speeds on Camaro's and such. Last resort try a commercial option. As in, the HD drivetrain is in some funky cabover Izuzu service truck and has a dipstick. Worst case, there IS aftermarket tubes/sticks you can get from Lokar and others. Expensive Example .
  15. Pulls 4 tons in my dump trailer as well as my 2020 Cummins did.
  16. Fleets. Everyone forgets about the majority buyer of the gas HD platform. Fleet longevity has driven the gas HD decisions for many moons. The City of "x" is interested in longevity and commonality, not 400 gears to pull non-existent hills with. We can thank fleet longevity for the lack of cylinder deactivation and stop start on the 6.6 as well as the IMO wise decision to keep the bulletproof 6L90 around. All y'all TFL watchers that think your trucks will pull better in 7th at 2,400rpm than in 4th at 4,400rpm is why GM finally caved and gave you the more expensive and complicated 10. Enjoy your slightly better city MPG and same towing experience. I can assure you that Freeport McMoRan , the Town of "x" and Granite Construction give 2 craps about the 10 speed and were fine with the 6L90 that was cheap and went 250k with the rest of their truck.
  17. If the wire for the autodim is in every truck, then shouldn't the GM acessory version with built in garage door opener work as well? 84738651 They have one for non-autodim but if the wire is there, might as well get the autodim version.
  18. I wonder if I can get it to activate using a simple 12v wire to it and put it on my Aux switches. Looks like it has a simple two prong setup for power and ground. Might have to buy one and experiment. Not a fan of looking at big plastic blocks reminding me of where stuff was supposed to be. Especially as I see lower trim WTs and Customs driving around with them on there.
  19. GM does odd packaging lately. I have a 22 LT including manual extending, manual fold, power adjust and heated tow mirrors but without the little spotter lights in them. Just a blank plastic block. I found the part number 23444107 for the little flood light chingadera. Any chance on getting the right outer cover and installing this? Shot in the dark that the wire and plug is waiting behind that blank panel but I figured I'd ask incase someone knows. Thanks.

  21. Just ordered my full kit. Hoping it's in stock and not just a bait and hold forever. Some of the individual part numbers are starting to show up as discontinued and the kit is perpetually in backorder on GM parts direct. Those wanting to eventually do this might want to get theirs if they can. I ordered 84942073 for black interior w/ keyless start. Looking to use it primarily for lighting. Flush mount bumper foot cutout rear lights and maybe a lightbar for the hood scoop if I can manage a clean install.
  22. How tall is that bar? Did you think about doing a 20" before the 10? Thanks.
  23. My truck @ 7,200mi was about 1/2 quart low BTW. Not surprised after reading about these trucks shipped dry on front end grease and low in the diffs.
  24. Never say never. If you have a stingy A-Hole dealer I suppose they could argue tampering. Thing is, this can be reversed without a trace. Keep the factory plug, 10mm & 13mm wrench in the truck and you could put it back to stock on the side of the road if need be (once the exhaust cools down).
  25. Using your thread I'll be doing this to my HD but will be using the factory upfitter switches (when I install them). I'm in the city and don't need it in reverse constantly, but it would be nice while hooking trailers and doing other truck stuff.
