  1. There is a company called OEMCARAUDIO on ebay that you can send your unit to for repair. There's also another company called upfix.com that is highly praised by Vehcor on youtube. I have dealt with the former many years ago for a small repair and had good service.
  2. The Big Guy's old boss wanted gas to be at least $5 per gallon and he nearly succeeded. Now they're at it again and hope to make it even worse. The goal of course is the destruction of the middle class and these United States as we know it.
  3. The AFM system in your truck is very reliable and as long you run the correct oil and change it sooner than the OLM, you can enjoy its benefits without fear of failure.
  4. Did you ever "flip the pill"? The thermostat kills these things, it's too high. GM has recently released a lower temp unit or you can "flip the pill". From now on run the severe service schedule, changing the fluid every 40K miles give or take.
  5. Did you consider sending out an oil sample to Blackstone Labs to find out where the metal flakes are from?
  6. Long ago Bosch and Vetronix shipped Tech-2 production offshore to China and while GM has moved on to the MDI and MDI2, China is still making them. Tech-2 is inexpensive and handy and like Evan says, there are other options out there as well. The limitation with exclusively using HPTuners is that it does not talk to the Body and possibly the Chassis modules. The Tech-2, Snap-On Solus, MDI, etc. talk to every module.
  7. This jars my memory, the strut mount in the strut assembly is rubber, and if there is movement when the truck is jounced, it needs to be replaced. This can certainly cause a noise.
  8. We had a guy with a similar complaint last year, turned out his front strut was broken and it was not noticeable until he went to take the strut apart. The shock flew apart and almost hit him. Be careful.
  9. Well, I would disconnect the cable to the transmission and work the lever from underneath with the wheels chocked of course! I would also look for bent or broken linkages. If that failed, I would drop the pan after watching the Youtube videos from Precision Transmission on how to fix an internal problem with the shift linkage.
  10. It's normal. You sitting in the seat all the time didn't help either! When I replaced my front springs, one of them was an intsy bit taller than the other but after two months it didn't make a difference. 1/4 different side to side up front and 1/16 side to side out back. Turn the radio up...
  11. KNP is for the external transmission oil cooler on your generation truck.
  12. Tech-2, you need a bi-directional scan tool to talk to the computers on your truck and run the built in tests, take data logs, view and test everything and do programming if necessary. This type of tool along with the shop manual will pay for themselves after the first repair or two even if you have someone else do the work.
  13. Huh? Short beds are 60 inches or so. Regular beds are 78 inches or so and long beds are about 96 inches. Been that way for as long as I can remember.
  14. My preference is for the extended cab if rear seat passengers would not be a regular occurrence. Great looking truck!
  15. You should have taken care of it more often. All that is fixable though, you can get replacement parts and weld them in.
  16. How is it going with the motor?
  17. So what did you decide to do? In selecting a factory stock camshaft with VVT, I would go with the L9H camshaft.
  18. So what's the latest on this? Did GM or the other company get you going again?
  19. I would contact these guys: https://www.ebay.com/usr/oemcaraudio?_trksid=p2047675.m3561.l2559
  20. For your motor's sake, take the long way home to burn off the condensation in your crankcase.
  21. You need to put a Tech-2 on it and pull the internal codes so you can stop wasting time and money. The ITB module has to be programmed to the truck, it cannot just be installed. The SSR (solid state relay) can be installed. There's still the connection at the back to address, wiring and the controller. Did anyone try hooking up an aftermarket controller? If so, it will mess up the factory one, only one can be powered/attached at a time. Have you taken apart the 7-pin and cleaned out all the dirt, dust and put dielectric grease on all the connections? Mine was the SSR.
  22. When was the suspension rebuilt last and what brand of parts were used? The truck is 17 now, almost old enough to vote! Rebuilt mine at 13 and she drives like new.
  23. No error codes? Did you check the u-joints and yokes?
  24. Did you check GMPartsGiant?
