  1. I've been using HP Tuners for like 7-8 years now and from everything I've done, it is tough to get any major gains in power and mpg from the stock engine. The maintenance on the engine and the way you drive are going to determine everything. No matter what it's still going to be about a 13-15 city avg and 19-20 on the freeway if you are going the speed limit or slightly under. Most of the "power" gains come from changing up settings within the calibration to make it less lazy. Hypertech, dialbo, SCT tuner and maybe the edge tuning kinda all have that canned tune where it changes those settings and may get you want you are after. Otherwise you can get into a HP Tuners for $400 and learn to do it yourself.
  2. If you do a little search, you'll find maybe 15 threads on that topic already.
  3. Yes, the sensor and a tune will allow you to run E85. Once everything in the computer is enabled it will work as if it came that way from the factory. I'm currently running something like E60 in the tank right now because of the mix of regular fuel. Starts, runs, drives like it should and probably gains close to 20-25hp in the process when you want it.
  4. I'd take to the dealership with the boat, drive it with a tech and show them. Something that would be covered under warranty no doubt.
  5. I suppose you could install the non trail boss lift blocks too. Aren't the trail boss lift blocks like 1in larger than the others? Though that might not lower it as much as you want.
  6. Just don't hit a weight station and DOT lol. They'd have your ass here if a 3/4 ton went over it's GVRW.
  7. I'd almost suspect the radiator having poor circulation. When you rev the engine it's able to force more coolant flow through the system and cool it back down. How hot is it actually getting? The dash is not a good way to judge real temp as the temp sensor to cluster read outs tend to be 10-15+ degrees different. When the cluster reads 210, they tend to be 195-200 at the temp sensor.
  8. I'm still waiting to see a stock tune from any 2019 model. I'm not sure how anyone is tuning these new trucks yet when even HP Tuners hasn't released any information about being able to get into the new computers yet. Even if the truck has the old AFM/6L80e setup, I haven't seen anything come up about them. I even googled the Fireball package and couldn't find anything about the 2019 truck specifically, they had pictures of the K1xx series trucks.
  9. But in that guys case he runs his engine for a long enough time to remove the water from the oil. If there was any build up of condensation over night, it would turn into steam and go away. It's likely a safe bet to say that people who install a catch can and do check it/drain it on the regular, make more short trips or live in cooler climate that can build up more condensation inside the engine. That why you see milky cheese looking stuff come out of the catch can.
  10. Possible you are hearing the ABS self test. I used to hear it all the time on some of previous GM vehicle, not so much or at all with my 2016. Though I haven't been listening for it.
  11. About 3 ugga ugga's with my impact. Can't remember the last time I torqued anything on the suspension, the german spec works great for just about everything.
  12. Haven't lost an engine yet running the cheapest full syn, normally the napa stuff made by Valvoline. It all has to meet spec to be sold, so it's good enough for me. Amsoil is still great stuff though, used it before and would run it in anything I thought required some severe duty protection.
  13. Don't be a sally, just do it instead of waiting for someone to confirm.
  14. Needs more sidewall, gotta fill them wheels well lol.
  15. Removing the block completely should net a 1 to 1.25in rear drop. That is, if they didn't change the block height from the previous body style and ones before that. I removed mine on my 2016 without issue, the u-bolts had good threads still and I didn't need any extra washers to make it work. I believe they are cast aluminum because they weight almost nothing.
  16. You didn't say what cab you wanted but the dealership 2 miles from my house has this one and surely several others. It's not exactly close to where you live though. I mean they have LT's for $34,000 before tax and that's a pretty darn good deal, basically the same as what the 2018's were selling for last year. http://www.millerchev.com/VehicleDetails/new-2019-Chevrolet-Silverado_1500-Double_Cab_Standard_Box_4_Wheel_Drive_Custom_Trail_Boss-Rogers-MN/3372505143
  17. Pressure sensor.
  18. Maybe you missed the part that is also costs $2000 just for the computer, plus the 10 credits, plus more credits for the TCM and FPCM. I wouldn't say it's a crack, it's a whole new computer just like the diesel L5P trucks.
  19. A non flex fuel vehicle will not compensate for the E85, whoever said it is an idiot. The computer has to known the real alcohol content to make real time adjustments and it has to be setup in the tune to use it. Without a real sensor it can't alter the stoich ratio for the fuel nor can it use the flex fuel features such as spark advanced changes or commanded fueling under power enrichment to use the E85 or mix of fuel to the best of it's abilities. DSX tuning also offers a flex fuel kit or you can buy the parts and plumb it yourself to save money. That is, if you can do your own work and wiring. I have no experience with black bear as I do all my own tuning but I can only hope they are smart enough to know how to enable that feature and use the tables in the calibration to provide the customer with what they want.
  20. If someone can do a VIN breakdown on one of those trucks, that would be cool to know. Maybe it is plausible that the non DFM truck use the old computers.
  21. How? The 2019 custom trailboss still use the same computer as his GMC truck, same computer as the LT, LTZ, RST and High country. Only the 2019 LD Silverado's from what I gather carry over the same E92 computer as the 2014-2018's.
  22. Unless Blackbear is the person reverse engineering the computer himself, he's playing the waiting game. I'm sure EFI Live, HP Tuners and everyone else are slowly testing work arounds but I wouldn't get your hopes up for something working soon.
  23. Nothing. The new ZR1 and Silverado have nothing yet and if they do, it's not going to be cheap at all because of how complex they have made it. HP Tuners has had a thread or two but it's nothing new.
  24. Find me a flex fuel truck is what I'd say. Hardly any 5.3 trucks actually come with flex fuel from the factory after 2015-2016. Yes there are some but the vast majority are not. My 2016 is disabled from the factory. Most installs can be done for under $100 if you piece it together right.
