2017, 2018, 2019's and maybe the 2020 camaro TCM's can be programmed, it's on the HP Tuners website. It requires an unlock service plus the credits to do it. Note this is only of the 8 and 10 speed transmission. 6 speed TCM's do not require this service. The 2019's are for the camaro/corvette, surburban/yukons that are still running the E92 computers. The T1 trucks have nothing for the TCM's yet.

Then pick a muffler and slap it on. We can give you an opinion or a you can watch video's but until you actually install the muffler yourself, you will not know if it is up to your standards for sound.

Just hack the muffler off and I bet you'll like that sound. I don't think they sound bad straight piped so long as the cats are there. The cats will act as your resonators and keep it tame.

Call around, get more quotes. A GM re-man transmission on GM parts direct is $2,900, so local prices at a dealer should be around that as well. A new Torque converter on the same website is $265. I am assuming you have the 6 speed auto here. So with this ball park in prices you are at $3,100ish plus the labor and fluids. I don't have the R&R time for a transmission but that's likely several hours. Add tax and yadda yadda and it's up around $4,000 I'd say. But $1,400 for just a torque converter and labor sounds high.

A dealer won't take a $5,000-10,000 hit and give him a new vehicle, it's got 12,500km on and not 100km's. He'll be waiting until parts come in.

Sucks that nothing is available for parts but what can we do for you? It's not your fault they can't fix, so it's on them (the dealership) to take care of you. No doubt you got a loaner, so pretty much you wait. They won't lemon law or buy back your $60,000 truck because of this.

For what it's worth even with a superchips that you have that you flash back to stock with before taking it in, they can still see that you did that. It logs the history of computer flashes, so you'd be boned either way. Maybe you already knew that though.

I'll be honest here, if you've never done anything like this before it will not be easy. The 2014+ trucks run basically the most advanced calibrations that are out there for GM vehicles aside from the T1 trucks that just came out. There are courses and books/video's you can buy to better prep yourself. Greg Banish at Calibrated Success offers books and video's. There is also The Tuning School and many youtube video's to shine some light on what you will be dealing with. I learned on the computers that came out in the late 90's through the early 2000's when I first started tuning in 2012, so everything I learned on those computers carried over into the newer 2007+ computers while also being introduced to new things in those computers. Then as time went on they progressed and once 2014 came, things got more complicated but most of the same basics still applied. There are other options out there if you don't want to do it yourself. Like a dyno tune from a shops or finding a local person that does tunes. I've never been a fan of handheld tuners so I don't all of those options.

Yeah, I've been using HP Tuners since 2012. I bought it straight from HP Tuners themselves, why hassle with summit racing or any other re-seller when buying from the actually company is that easy. You'll need the tuning device plus however many credits your vehicle takes to license. Just know that HP Tuners does not come with tunes or anything, the user is the person making all the changes so you will need to understand how things work in the GM world of calibration.

HP Tuners is for the guy that wants to learn it themselves. There is no such thing as a "boxed" or "canned" tune with HP Tuners. It doesn't offer selectable tunes like eco modes, tow modes etc etc. To me all that stuff is a gimmick because whoever built the tune just made one part of it far more aggressive that it previous was or far more mild etc etc. Everything you want in a tune can be done with one calibration if the person doing it knows what they are doing. HP Tuners is $300 for the device and software. Then it's a credit amount per license and each vehicle has a credit fee that can vary. For example 2014-2016 Silverado's are 2 credits for PCM/TCM. 2017-2018 Silverado's are 4 credits for PCM and TCM is 4 credits plus the TCM unlock service. Added security to the computers made for the price increase. Note: the TCM is not required for tuning, you could just do the PCM. A credit costs $50. If doing it yourself is not something you want to take on, then buying something like a Diablo I guess is what you are left with. Or paying a shop to do a custom tune but that would likely be the most expensive option. Power gains is tough to say because I don't have a dyno but I'd say 15-20hp and similar torque on pump gas is possible and a tad more with E85. Without altering the torque tables and just doing some fueling/timing changes the predicted and calculated torque values are up about that amount with the things I change.

You'd need the harness for it because it uses a different TCM. So the TCM is also needed. I would guess that you need the torque converter obviously and the correct flex plate. The factory computer could be programmed. You would have to use a 5.3/8L90e calibration file. They sold the Denali trucks and maybe even the LTZ/high country trucks with that combo. This would take someone with some know how in the tuning/calibration department and access to these types of files just to see if it could work. Thinking about it more I'd think something with the BCM would have to be re-programmed as well because the clusters manual mode only goes to M6. So if you ask me, yes it can be done but it's not worth the effort unless you have lots of downtime and know a lot of people in the right places to get this job done.

Your foot plays a far bigger role in mpg than a tune does. I do custom tuning with HP Tuners and have for over 8 years. It's not something where I just dittle the mouse and magically get 2-3 mpg from a tune.

Yeah, the GMT-900's used the same cab for 1500's and 25/3500's. Even the boxes are the same and front fenders. The main changes are just the hoods, grilles and bumpers.

A tune should have been just for the 35's alone. The shifting schedule would get changed a lot with it knowing the real tire size.

Yup #100351 at Napa, they should have them.

When you say it happens with the torque converter locked, that says to me it's a possible torque converter issue itself. A nicer scan tool that could do transmission controls could be used as you drove the truck. When the shutter happens with the TC locked, just unlock it and see if it stops.

Borla just wants your money. Lots of member have either chopped the stock one out or swapped it with something they like. You'd think they should be plenty of sound clips on the youtubes because these trucks have been out for a while now. I'd maybe look there for possible muffler options.

The WIX Filter number is WL10351. The NAPA Gold filter number should be 100351. I'd use either of those filters. Napa can cross just about any filter part number too. Even have them double check if you wish but that part number is correct.

A spun rod bearing would make glitter in the oil. If the dipstick is still clean, it's not going to a rod/main bearing.

You aren't entitled to a reply you know, it's the internet man. There are no freeze plugs on the block that I remember There are freeze plugs in the cylinder heads though. The drivers side is the only side that will have a spot for a block heater at the rear of the block, that could leak coolant but unlikely. Next you have the water pump gaskets between the pump and front of the engine. Then you have the head gaskets and the coolant temp sensor on the drivers side. That is pretty much it for possible coolant leaks.
