When this happens, hold down the steering wheel mute button for up to 30 seconds. Your radio will shut down and after a few seconds it will reboot back up and sound will work fine. Saves having to shut the truck off and kill the power.

It will drink DEF like a drunken sailor on leave when towing (programmed that way to meet California pollution regulations), so how many of those miles are towing?

Look up Ram lifter tick and you will find the same issue as they also have an AFM system in the hemi. -

Late coming new 2022 LTZ full load. Traded my 13 Silverado that only had 72,000 kms for it. Happy so far. Loving the 6.2. -
What Have You Done With Your T1 Today ?????
Dpach replied to Sierra Dan's topic in Modifications, Wheels & Tires
Well, traded the 2013 LT Z71 with only 71,713 kms (45,000 miles) for a new late coming 2022 LTZ 6.2L. Added Bakflip hard trifold, full bin underseat storage, dark essentials package, clear rock guard film on the front end, a-pillars and front of roof, floor liner package, and gatorback flaps. Spent three nights claying, spraying for rail dust, polishing and the putting a synthetic polymer wax on. -

There is a bulletin out on this. GM is working on an over the air update. GM is recommending not to plug in unless temps are below 0 F. -

GM websites have the ZR2 slotted between the LTZ and High Country on their list of models. So that likely means the MSRP will be around where a more loaded LTZ prices, or just below where a base High Country starts. -

Interesting that on GM websites, they have the ZR2 slotted between the LTZ and High Country. Many thought it would be between the LT Trailboss and the LTZ. With it being above the LTZ, pricing will probably reflect that. -

Yes, only 1/2" more ground clearance (as the lowest part of the truck is the usually the rear diff, and the larger tires will only give it minimal increase in clearance. But I was talking about the suspension lifts (which helps with approach, break-over and departure angles when off-roading). -

Not a fair comparison as yes the 6.2 gets the same or better mileage than the old model 5.3's with AFM and 6-speeds or regular 5.3 from older vehicles. But the new 5.3 with DFM and 8/10 speeds still gets better mileage than the new DFM 6.2. And the gap widens another 1 mpg if the 6.2 runs regular gas. -

In one of the vids, they mention the ZR2 has a 1 to 1.5 inch higher lift than the regular TB (either 1" front, rear 1.5" or vise versa). Done to fit the larger tires than the TB. -

So far I like what I see. Exterior wise, I do like the full width bumper with the curtains being curtailed (get it....) back a bit. I like the lighting setup. The only thing I need to see in person is the grille cross bar being so high and not centered top to bottom (my OCD will have issues). Interior wise, huge improvement. Love the screen and the fact that the digital dash is standard on LT and up. I don't mind the console shifter as I usually only have a couple drinks, my phone and perhaps a pair of gloves in my current console. I do like the wireless charging design where it slides down under the center console storage area, out of the way and it won't slide all over when braking. I do question the knobs down on the lower left of the dash. It looks like they moved all the 4x4 and lighting knobs back down where your left knee is. They could have left them in the upper left instead of that large black plastic panel. Bumping the power on the 2.7L is amazing, but the 5.3L needs to also have over 400 torque, and preferably closer to 400 hp to be competitive (yes, a standard 10-speed would help it in all trims). Overall, good first impressions, but again, seeing in person will make final judgement. -
2020 Silverado Traillboss Custom 5.3 V8 WTF!

I wonder if Frogzskins we use on snowmobile vents to keep snow out would work on the hose intake up by the top of the rad? They make them for side x sides and quads to keep water out of air intakes, so I wonder if they would work in this application or restrict too much air? -
Actually, they have just completely shut down production for various periods for vehicles like the Traverse/Acadia, Equinox/Terrain, Camaro, Colorado, etc due to chip shortages. They need to keep trucks going, so eliminating some features allows them to do that. The Equinox plant was shut down for nearly 2 mths earlier this spring, and is now closed again for a bit. Colorado was the same; closed for nearly 2 mths.

Not use about US, but Canadian GM warranty will do one turning of the rotors within first 20,000 kms (12,000 miles) if they warp. But after that, it is a serviceable item, mainly because there are so many factors than can cause warping (heavy trailer towing through mountains with improper trailer brake settings, hard emergency braking, people rest their left foot on the brake pedal as they drive, etc).

2019 stickers didn't have the tow rating; they made you do some math off the numbers on the sticker. GCWR - curb weight comes out to be around 9719 lbs on the sticker shown above (but that doesn't include the weight of a tank of fuel). But most of us use the 10% tongue weight estimate, so a 960 lbs tongue weight rating would be good for 9600lbs max tow rating. 2020's changed up the sticker to include actual tow ratings.

Almost all screw onto the inside of the wheel house lip and the top edge just rests against the outside of the fender which is where dirt, salt, water, etc gets in. Most also state to remove them each time you wash your vehicle to clean out the salt, dirt and crap that gets behind them. Older truck owners put them on to hide fender rot, but ones on new trucks can accelerate fender rot because few owners take them off the clean behind them.

There's all kinds of constraints on right now as suppliers are having a lot of problems (boards, tonneau covers, certain options inside the truck, etc). Packages requiring the HD radio are limited, so that includes options like advanced trailering app, Bose system, etc. Computer chips/capacitors are short supply for all manufacturer's right now. Plus, GM just announced the Mexico Siloa plant is down due to Mexico having a shortage of natural gas, with no return to work date yet. That will slow production even more.

If you want the truck to lock by itself a few seconds after you get out so you don't have to hit the door button, there is a setting in the "vehicle" app in the radio settings. I believe it is under lock/unlock settings. It's called passive locking and you can set it up so it does it silently or does a horn chirp so you know it is locked. If setting up passive locking doesn't work, then it may be a glitch.

GMC Remote access, yay or nay?
Dpach replied to ero2's topic in 2019-2026 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
It depends on how you use your truck. Yes, it is nice to be able to remote start it from anywhere with cel services since factory remote starters don't work inside buildings like hockey arenas, stadiums, etc. It's nice to see your trucks oil life, tire pressure, etc, get navigation routes sent to your truck before you even get into the truck, etc. But if you tow, and your truck has the advanced trailering app, the remote access brings a couple nice touches. First, you can start the trailer light test from the app when you are standing behind the trailer. Second, if you are staying overnight somewhere, and someone goes to steal the trailer, as soon as the wiring plug is disconnected from your truck, you can set up the app so it texts your phone immediately to warn you someone is trying to steal your trailer. If you don't have the remote access plan, then the truck will set off the horns and lights, but you have to be within hearing range and realize it's your truck. If you had the remote access on a previous truck, you can sometimes complain to the onstar rep, say you'd take it for $5/mth, and they will sometimes come back with a reduced offer. Here in Canada, I know people paying around the $7-8/mth for it if they had the remote access for 5 yrs free on their previous vehicle. Also, if you pay for the entire year or two (whatever your contract is for), they give you some months free. Example, if you buy a 12 month plan and pay for it all at once instead of monthly, you pay for 10 mths and get 12 (so 2 mths for free). -
Anyone lost brakes besides me.
Dpach replied to midriv's topic in Troubleshooting, Warranty & Recalls
The reason for the $7K hit on the value of the truck is because the truck has been registered and is now considered used. So the dealership can't take it back, fix the issue and sell it as a new vehicle, which means they can't use any of the GM rebates or low finance rates. It would have to be sold as a 'used' vehicle at used vehicle finance rates. So the sale price of the truck would have to be low enough so the payments on it (at used vehicle rates) would be lower than a new one, otherwise no one would ever buy it. That doesn't make it right though. If this is a true 'buying it back" by GM themselves, there shouldn't be any loss for you in that short of time and low miles. If it is a dealer having to take it back and reverse the deal, then the above reason I mentioned would likely apply. I would make sure it is GM themselves buying it back and get 100% back. -
Not sure about where you live, but where I live, all items inside a truck bed need to be tied down/secured at all times. If an object flies out of your truck and hits another vehicle, you are liable. You can try to sue the manufacturer, but it has been tried in the past and failed (I believe someone in the US had a BBQ bounce out of their box and it wiped out a car which injured the car driver and passenger, so they sued the truck owner who tried to sue the manufacturer for faulty design). I tie everything down in the back of my truck if it won't fit with by Bakflip closed, or at least throw one of those stretchy nets over the items if the items are bulky.
