3500 Camper install
mobilelists replied to mobilelists's topic in 2020-2026 Silverado HD & Sierra HD
My concern is that the dimensions are actually for the case of the tailgate attached and closed. I really need from inside the bed to the end of the taillights so I maximize the camper size. -
I am in the process of having a slide-in camper build for a 2022 3500 SLE Double cab, Long bed, 4WD. One question is what is the largest size that will fit to the end without the tailgate installed? So if I were to create the largest box 5 feet tall that could slide into the truck bed and just come to the end of the bed with the tailgate removed, would it would be 98.27 inches long (The inside length of bed is 98.27 in. off a sheet the dealer showed) and 50.55 in.wide (the inside width between the wheelhousing is 50.55 in.off the same sheet from the dealer). Thanks

How can you tell if it is waiting for parts vs waiting for transport? The event code is 4000 Vehicle Available to Ship. But then there is no code listed for waiting for parts.

Why does it take so long to move a completed truck from Flint to the dealer? Mine has been sitting with event code 4000 since Feb 4 2022.

2022 3500 HC Cameras

I am waiting for my 3500 to be delivered for my slide-in camper so I too am interested in this issue. If you do a search of the forum you will find several discussions and comments about this. There are also several commercial sites that have good discussions such as: https://www.rostra.com/chevrolet-gmc-trucks-single-wire-lvds-tailgate-camera-relocation-kits.php Keep me posted and good luck -
Overlanding and Camping Mod Thread
mobilelists replied to Robert Peters's topic in Modifications, Wheels & Tires
Under ideal conditions, the amount of conducting steel and iron in the frame and body serving as a ground would be a far better conductor than a single 1/0 copper cable. But GM must know and I have always observed on detroit vehicles, is that they rust. So in the long run, grounding directly to the battery must be better which could explain why GM does that with their accessories. Now If the existing holes in the corner of the truck bed can handle 2 cables I will be set and not have to drill anything. Thanks -

Transient, thanks for the feedback. Related issue, what is the recommended grounding method? Long cable from battery ground or short cable from grounding spot on frame/body near truckbed? -

Transient, I found this link: https://f01.justanswer.com/edhunt0r/0e3be21d-c69c-4fa1-8d71-37c382481bcd_Pickup+Box+Ornamentation+Bar+Package+Installation+(Sport+Bar).pdf Looks like this can help, just need to look at the truck if it ever appears. -

I have a truck on order (scheduled for build the week of 31JAN) so I don't have it in front of me to figure out a possible solution. So I seek the wisdom of the net. What is the "best" way to route a couple 1/0 cables from the 2nd battery/alternator to a slide-in camper? For protection in the engine compartment I will have a t-fuse feeding a solenoid. Then feed the cable under the truck to the front of the truck bed. I could just have a length of excess cable to an Anderson connector that would plug into the camper, but then where is a safe place to store this excess cable when not in use. Another suggested option is to mount bulkhead cable connectors (https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-g1431-red) through the truck bed and then a short cable to an Anderson connector. Is there a corner section of the truck bed that would work for this option? Somewhere that is protected from the stuff that would be in the truck bed when not used for camping and could store a short coil of cable when not is use? A variation to this would be a gland (https://www.mcmaster.com/cable-glands/) to provide the cable pass through. Thanks for any suggestions. -
Thanks for the answer. Just looked and found some nearby (<100 miles). One had it all...tires, rims and pressure sensor. Will try again after the truck is built and is at least on the way to the dealer.

If my 2022 3500 is ever built and delivered I might want to get a set of rims to install snow/mud tires for camping. What are the better sources for aftermarket rims? I am looking for function not fancy. Stay healthy

Inventory and ordering lead times
mobilelists replied to Rozz522's topic in 2020-2026 Silverado HD & Sierra HD
I again posted this earlier in the wrong thread, sorry. What I am trying to locate are details on the formal GM process for handling the missing items from packages. For example, just as others mention are the Rear Cross Traffic, Lane Departure and Lane Change (UFG, UFL and UKC) missing from the Driver Alert Packages I and II. I would like to know if these items might automatically be installed at time of build if components exist and how would one know? Or, can these items be added at a later date by the dealer? Thanks -
I have an order for a 2022 3500HD SLE double/long 4X4 that was placed last month with Event Description 1100 - Preliminary Order Accepted. As I look over the output from the Order Workbench I see packages listed but then some of the items that should be in a package are not listed. For example, Driver Alert Packages I and II (PQB/PDJ) are listed but items in those packages like Rear Cross Traffic, Lane Departure and Lane Change (UFG, UFL and UKC) are not. There are discussions on this chip gap on forums but I cannot find anything official from GM on what is happening and its mitigation process. I would like to know if these items may automatically be installed at time of build if components exist? Or, can these items be added at a later date by the dealer? What are others doing with their builds? Thanks

Inventory and ordering lead times
mobilelists replied to Rozz522's topic in 2020-2026 Silverado HD & Sierra HD
RLCC, I think I am having the same issue. I posted this on the "The official ordering, production & delivery thread - 2019 Silverado / Sierra" thread : (I will paste it as I can't figure out how to link on this forum software): ..... Can someone point me to the answer to my production questions? I ordered a 2022 Sierra 3500HS LTE double cab, long bed. They gave me a set of pages listing the build that looked like a variant off the GM web site format. A few days later I made a couple changes and they sent back pages in a different format that I believe is the output from the dealer's ordering group entry into the GM production database (I am calling it the GM database..it is probably called something different). Looking over this second set of pages I found many missing options. After another session at the dealer, it appears that when the order is entered in the GM database, the components to a package that will actually be included at that time are chosen by GM. For example, Driver Alert I or 2, may only have some of the components you believe will be included from their sales literature. In my case such items as Rear Cross Traffic Alert (UFG), Lane Departure Warning (UFL) and many more are not included. WOW! The cost of a package is less because components are missing but still that does not help me meet my requirements. Is it a weekly crap shoot to have the dealer review the order every week to see if it can be locked in when all the components are offered for a package? What should be expected these days ordering a truck? ..... -

The PDF is great. But I would like to run a larger cable (4 to 8 gauge) from the battery to somewhere between the cab and bed to a connector. What connector should I use (Anderson?) and where/how should I fasten it to the bed? Thanks
