  1. Yes, i understand the current laws, but also understand that current standards are always being challenged. With the rise in personal use of the 3/4 & 1 ton trucks, it's only a matter of time.
  2. Red Delicious or Fuji? Purely speculative on my part, but the 10 speed could have implications on engine mapping, which could both increase fuel mileage, and decrease emissions. From that point, it could be very beneficial. Even with that, I'm happy with the six speed. Sometimes "good enough" is good enough for me. Other times, I like the newest tech available. I'd dig having a 5G hotspot in the truck. But if they had a 10G, well... sign me up! On a side note, I wonder how long it will take the EPA to catch up with creating Fuel mileage standards for the 3/4 & 1 ton markets? I'm surprised the 3/4 ton isn't already there.
  3. Congratulations on getting your order submitted. Did you go single, or dual Alternator?
  4. Seems like it depends on brand and model. I can only speak to my personal experience, ordering a Chevy LT3500, with a lot of packages and options. Started October 19th With a high volume dealer in Utah. Order placed Dec 20th (everything except Roof Marker Light Option was available) (Delay due to specific "had to have" options not being available) Build scheduled for first week of February. Could still be delayed, dealer is good at keeping me posted. Good luck with your order.
  5. Thanks to all the good folks who listed the options, and picture of the decals. That is a big help! Also thanks to the OP who titled this thread very clearly. Very helpful to others looking for specific info.
  6. @BMyers Any concerns to mag/chloride causing under hood issues this winter? Or would you just close it off for winter use? I like your concept to cooling the intake manifold. That could also have a positive effect on fuel mileage.
  7. Do the '22 HD trucks have child locks on the rear doors? If so, I'm taking my mother-in-law for a ride to phoenix next summer...
  8. I thought pretty hard on this, and decided the weight savings, simple servicing (that any transmission shop has seen), and cheap replacement parts are worth a few less gears. Currently pulling a 15K 5th wheel behind a 5.9L Ram with a 4 speed auto, so six gears is 50% more better... lol 6L90E has a great rep, and I don't want a transmission that has more gears than I have teeth...
  9. Based on what Jeff did, I'm so looking to do this: https://www.amazon.com/Scanning-Knight-Remote-Control-Signal/dp/B00HD7SQWC In seriousness, I do like what Jeff did. That would be great for climbing through the rocks at night, on the way to the secret fishing spot.
  10. Dealer told me the same as Len's dealer told him. I went ahead with the order (3500LT with leather package). Probably won't get her until next summer, so won't need heated seats, unless I don't like the passenger... lol
  11. Thanks for bringing this up. I use the brakes and throttle together off-road to load the suspension and get through difficult rocky situations with limited tire slip. Will need to look into this, as it's pretty important for me. Funny the Dodge has hydroboost, but I've not had this issue, and I've run it through some pretty long rock stretches. Will look into why it's an issue for the GM. Maybe it will be simple, like adding an external cooler package (fingers crossed).
  12. Slightly different in that I'm ordering an LT 3500, but the reasons fit 2500 or 3500. For the same things in the Ford that I feel are necessary, it would have been an increase of $8K over the Chevy. Two of the big things for me is sun roof & leather. That took me out of an XLT and into a Larriet. I'm not excited about independent front suspension, but I can live with that to get sunroof and leather at what I feel is a "reasonable" price. Currently driving a loaded '07 Ram 3500 Laramie with the 5.9L Cummins. I absolutely love this truck, but it doesn't have the payload/5th wheel capacities to comfortably pull the 5th wheel, and I need to start daily driving short trips, which will ruin the truck. I would not do a 6.4L hemi even if it was $10K less. So I didn't even consider the Ram. My last 4 new vehicles have been Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and all have been great. Wish they'd do something about the durability of the 6.4L hemi.
  13. Nice! Getting what you want provides the good possibility it will stick around longer than if you'd compromised. Besides the Denali is an awesome truck. From the front end to the interior, it is pure class.
  14. Light, inexpensive and bullet proof make the 6 speed hard to pass up. Rather keep the price of the truck lower, and the weight down.
  15. I've had real good luck with the Roto-flex pin box on a 37' 5th wheel (14,580lbs loaded with a 3,480lbs pin weight). It came stock, and when I saw it my first thought was "another gimmick". I actually rolled my eyes when the sales guy started talking about it... lol If the undulations in the road surface are just right I can just barely feel a bit of chuck, but nothing that would even slow down drinking a cup of coffee in my favorite mug. I watch the hitch in the bed, and it's working pretty hard both lateral, and in rotational flex, so it is definitely making a difference. Might be worth asking about. But it doesn't work well with the Anderson hitch setup, because the Anderson Hitch requires locking out the rotator. In my case that rotator is working in conjunction with the urethane pad to limit the chucking. So you would probably want to borrow a standard 5th wheel hitch to try it with.
  16. Excellent write up. Thank you! I don't have enough posts yet to rate, hence my response.
  17. Short time lurker, first time poster... lol Thanks for the input from everyone on this thread and the other aux alternator thread I read. I did some study on this because it is something I'm very interested in for a new order. Reviewing the schematics and the T of O, it appears there are two different ways the Aux Alt works. W/o Snow plow package the 170A Auxiliary Alternator is in parallel operation with the 200A main alternator. The same control signal is sent from the BCM to both alternators through the "L" terminal. Output operation is monitored through the F terminal from only the main alternator, and current sensor of primary battery, input to BCM. I don't see a current sensor for C1B battery, nor a connection from F terminal to BCM of aux alternator. Auxiliary Alt schematic is page 5-7 of the Electrical Body Builder Manual, and Main Alt schematic is page 5-6. So you can see how they work in concert. With Snow plow package (option VYU) the 170A Auxiliary Alternator will only be active when the controller from the Snow plow presents B+ at the "Snow Plow Relay". The relay then closes allowing a path from BCM to "L" terminal. The output is still in parallel, but the control circuit is interrupted by that relay. Snow Plow Aux Alt schematic is page 5-10 of the Electrical Body Builder Manual There is not a separate charging schematic for Camper Package only, so most likely dual alt with camper only option would be as standard (Both alternators working in concert). I've not seen an actual truck to see if the schematic is accurate, but GM schematics are normally pretty reliable. Also I find nothing on the duty cycle rating of the Snow Plow Relay. If it is not rated 100% that could be an issue for situations where long term use is needed. Also how that relay would handle loading if connected to the Run circuit instead of the Accessory circuit. I'm a bit disappointed in GMs choice, as they are way ahead of Snow Plow electronics technology that I've seen, so this was not necessary. When possible it is always better not to modify the truck electrical so that defects in materials or workmanship of electrical/electronics are still covered by warranty. i'll probably remove the snow plow relay on my truck and jumper terminal 30 to 87A. But if an issue with anything in the electrical system comes up during the warranty period, the claim could be denied. One thing that is pretty cool, is it looks like the main alternator uses an overrun clutch. If something I've stated is not correct, please feel free to correct me. Thanks!
