  1. Or a camper or 5th wheel or trailer depending on what type of battery load. I know people that run their AC while on the road so they use the second alternator to supplement solar for AC in their trailer.
  2. Thought the only difference is the extra leaf springs and a bigger diff. Can't be much more than a few hundred pounds. Of course if you order a diesel and get the MAX Tow package, they should be identical.
  3. The 1000# extra makes sense since it was two of you and the shell with some other stuff
  4. I do pretty much the exact same thing when setting up my WDH that needs the bolts torqued to 320 ft-lb
  5. For future reference, just get the Cat Scale app. Everything done through your phone. Drive up, open the app. It will likely show the scale you are sitting on or you enter the number. It weighs you and charges to your credit card and shows you the scale numbers and emails you the results. Don't have to get out of the truck. https://catscale.com/cat-scale-apps/ Looks like you have over 1000# in/on your truck. I am assuming you and possibly other people were in the truck when it got weighed?
  6. I just got a quote for a 3500 and a 2500 in CA with USAA. They were nearly identical with the 3500 $4 more.
  7. I have not...I am waiting on my 24 GMC Denali which is on order. I have used cables on my F150 I have used chains with my previous 3/4T Chevrolet and I don't recommend them. I have used both chains and cables and I would only ever use cables.
  8. I have a house in south lake Tahoe. No need at all to plug in the truck. We have cables for all of our vehicles that we use there. Been many years since we have had to put them(they are all 4WD or AWD) on and that was when we were headed up to Kirkwood skiing.
  9. The way I was reading it he was towing nothing on his flatbed trailer. Maybe he will come back and explain.
  10. I thought his trailer wheels were locking up...not his truck rear wheels!
  11. Trailer brakes typically lockup if they get contaminated with grease when the grease seal fails. That's why you don't use the zerks at the end of the axle to repack the bearings...you do it by hand.
  12. Just ordered a 24 GMC Denali with 6.6L gas and 10 speed. Thankfully, the 10 speed has been out awhile and its the same one that is mated the the Diesel engine. Love my 10 Speed in my F150. Reason I waited for the 2024 GMS gas was solely to get the 10 speed.
  13. Deleted Thought he said High Country
  14. I do get ads with adblock plus but they are off to the side and not obtrusive.
  15. On my F150, first change I drop the pan and change the filter, second one I suck it out and replace...next one pan drop and filter change. When I get my 2024 GMC Denali that I just ordered, I will follow same procedure but I am going to replace with a new pan with a drain plug at the first change.
  16. Yep....I used to be a used car dealer working my way through college. Had an RX-7 that was smoking like crazy. Thought the rotor seals were bad...was just the modulator.
  17. I can't even remember the last time I have ever added ATF but of course I change my ATF every 30K miles. This is with my F150 with the 10R80 transmission with the tiny dipstick under the car. If people are adding transmission fluid, they didn't check it properly(measured at proper temp) to begin with. There is absolutely no way it burns off. If ATF is burning, there is something severely wrong.
  18. You can either buy the $15 tool to relearn the tire positions after you put the TPMS in learn mode or you can likely do the old method of letting air out of each tire in learn mode.
  19. I knew the 10 speed had the level indicator built into the pan. Didn't realize the 6 speed did....agree, no need for a dipstick and would be a detriment to add a dipstick.
  20. That sounds like BS. A lot of people mod their vehicles and keep their warranty. Putting on oversize wheels would do more stress than putting in a dipstick. I am waiting on my GMC truck but there are many things I am going to change including a different transmission pan and a different diff cover. On my present Ford F-150, I used Forscan to modify computer settings. I am sure the dealer noticed what I did and there was nothing mentioned to me.
  21. OK...I thought you were implying that the correct level was ONLY 10mm down and not a range. Whenever I end up doing mine, I will fill level with the fill hole unless I buy the Banks cover in which I will fill to the middle of the sight glass on it.
  22. I thought the spec was 0 to 10mm which mean if it's level with the fill hole, it is also good.
  23. Yeah...I get it. Factory fixed running boards aren't the greatest either. I was 50/50 on getting them. Wasn't a cost issue at all. What's 1K when you are spending $80K+!
  24. For my 1st diff change, I am going to put a Banks pan on with a drain plug.
  25. If this was an option, I would have ordered the power running boards. I have a friend who has them on his F150 and them going in an out constantly drove me nuts.
