  1. I wonder if the rear window leak will be finally fixed?
  2. We get tornado's here and this time of the year, from June to Nov1st it's hurricane season. I just pray we don't get any. It seems they are worse every year and have stronger winds. We are a target for them it seems. They like to come in at the mouth of the Cape Fear River and just head straight up it. We also seem to be lucky and on the right side of the storms, the worst side. We are about a mile off the coast as the crow flies. If we would ever move, don't think we will I would build a tornado shelter. Right now, I think the only safe place is a small interior half bath. Unless we jumped into our swimming pool.
  3. Thanks. I have W11 but mainly use my MacBook. I will have to see if Apple has a similar feature.
  4. I use it as well and have been for years. This is when I had my Diesel Cruze. Just sold it back in Feb.
  5. Here what happens when I attach as a PDF. Also I do this from my computer. Not young enough to do it from my phone. 2016 Suburban UOA July 2025.pdf
  6. I did but when you attach it, you have to click it to see it. Just wanted to make it easier by not having that extra step.
  7. OK, here is my UOA on our 2016 Suburban with a 5.3. This sample was taken after a 1,200 mile trip up to PA to visit my mom. I took the sample as soon as we got back home and unpacked. I used E85 for the entire trip, about 4 tanks. I kept it topped off while up there for the most part. Also, why are my attachments like this blurry?
  8. Customboss, the reason UOA’s are taking longer now in my opinion is because Blackstone went up on their pricing and now Oil Analyzer’s has a better price and they are getting a ton more customers. Plus with the better price Oil Analizer’s also includes a TBN where Blackstone did not include that.
  9. Yes, but unfortunately out of most of our price range I would imagine.
  10. Susan picked up a used 2023 Wrangler Rubicon 4xe. She always wanted a Jeep. Saw it on the lot and the price was right. Picked it up with only 4k miles on it. It's been a great vehicle. Perfect for her and all the around town driving. She can go 8 weeks without having to fill it up. I use Fuelly and it's funny because every time I go to log her fill up, it asks if I forgot a fill up. LOL Best mpg on Fuelly is 99.0. It's a quick thing too, put it in 4hi and hit it and your gone. Perfect because not only does she only use electric for the most part, but easy to get in and out of parking around here. Our power company paid to have our level 2 charger installed. So from a dead battery to 100% takes 2.3hrs. If we used the 110 cord charger then it would take 13hrs. So she can go out and run a few errands and then come back plug it in and in an hour or so it's back to full charge.
  11. What is sad is GM basically has made all vehicles a planned obsolescence. I stopped this at a point that the engineer explains it. Sad but as always, manufactures are all about saving $$$$ and they do it anyway they can. If you trade every 2 years then not much to worry about. But if you plan on keeping a vehicle, not much you can do to make it last it seems since the materials used are inferior from years past. All to save money. The materials in the transmission valve body as well as the valves in it are the cheapest that can be used for it to last just long enough to get it past warranty. Keep the fluid/filter changed and add coolers to keep it running cool is about all you can do to make it last. Case in point. I switched our 2016 Suburban over to AMSOIL as soon as we purchased it, then changed the fluid out again at 50k miles and took the thermostat out so it ran cooler. I even tuned out the AFM and it still went out at 82k miles. I send the fluid off at that time and the fluid was still in great shape. Nothing can fix inferior materials being used. Plain and simple. Like the engineer explains later on if you listed to the entire video, find an older truck, 2006 or older, make it like new and it will last for a long time.
  12. HTHS on an oil considered a good reference as to how long it will hold up?
  13. A friend of mine bought a 2025 Ff250 with the 7.3 Godzilla, put 2k miles on it and it started making a grinding sound. Took it to the dealer and they said the engine is bad and so they replaced it. A month later he gets it back and at 500 miles the same sound appears. Dealer said again, engine shot needs replaced so they did. From the paper work, it shows that the issue was the crank had way to much end play on both engines. Crazy and so he traded it for another new F250. He just hopes this one is good, not to mention he upgraded from a custom to a Lariat. It had adjustable peddles. Why did GM get rid of that feature? It's nice, especially if you have a short wife. LOL
  14. Everyone be safe and enjoy time with family and friend.
  15. Grumpy, what are your thoughts on (Hight Performance Lubricants) HPL fluids. I'm seeing more and more of it getting used online. One instance is they are blending an oil specifically tailored to the Ecodiesel in the Ram's and Jeeps to see if they can get lower aluminum counts. They are working with a Jeep mechanic that has an Ecodiesel. He is very knowledgeable when it comes to the Ecodiesel and had a ton of UOA's. AMSOIL's European MS 5w-40 oil is currently the best option from what he see's. It's not the recommended oil by AMSOIL, the FS 5w-40 is. The MS is showing better numbers than the FS.
  16. Yeah, commercial is overkill but seems to be the only thing that will last. I know four people that have purchase JD riding mowers some just recently some 8 years ago. They all seem to have the same problem, the deck mows tilted, as in one side is higher than the other. Some bought from big box stores some got from JD. They all have taken it back to get adjusted and it works fine for about three cuttings and then back to being off. I looked at them myself and can't see what the issue it. Looks fine on pavement, but put it on the lawn and one side is higher than the other. Weird.
  17. It's my understanding, once a tire starts a wear pattern it stays that way no matter what, unless you true the tire. Just curious, how old are the shocks?
  18. Not questioning anything, but there has to be some gain in mpg using a 0w-20, even a super small gain for manufacturers stating to use it in their vehicles all in the name of CAFE. That to me is whole reason for it so they can please the CAFE people.
  19. Thanks for the write-up. Most don't mess with it because of having to do all the extra just to get the cover off. This explanation make it easier to understand.
  20. I change mine out when I get my vehicles then go from there on mileage. Here is what to use. https://www.amsoil.com/p/amsoil-severe-gear-75w-85-100-synthetic-gear-lube-svl/?zo=521390
  21. Not sure on the price difference. I'm sure dexos R 0w-40 is more than 0w-20. So an oil change will be more.
  22. Not at all. I believe those that want oils to be on a manufactures list because they feel it’s the only way to keep their warranty are not worth trying to convince otherwise. Like I said before, just do what makes you happy. Motor on!
  23. No reason to pay GM. That is an expense that they would have to pass down to their customers. AMSOIL has been around for over 50yrs. I could not begin to guess how many satisfied customers have been using it since they started back in 1972. They were the first company to get an API licensed synthetic. Way before Mobil or any other company. The main thing is use what makes you happy, that is all that matters.
  24. @newdude, Thanks for the explanation and great information.
