  1. Certainly a reasonable generic assumption. Just sitting behind my little computer, I don't know how you could change the Ackermann ratio without binding something. I have a set of King shocks that essentially acts like spacers (leveling kit) by simply extending the A-arms. I suspect my steering stops are affected as I described above as well.
  2. I would imagine Fabtech copied the geometry from the GM knuckle/spindle for the stop pad and all Ackermann geometry. But if there is any increase in the A-arm angle, like a leveling kit, the proximity of the A-arm stop would get progressively closer to the knuckle stop pad. If so, the opposite wheel may have more available freedom of angular travel and your steering linkage may be deflecting, allowing one wheel to turn further.
  3. I'm wondering if the fabtech spindle pads contact the stop early and physically limits one Spindle angle. You could have a helper to slowly turn the steering, you watching until contact is made on the stop, then the steering turned to the lock while you watch for deflection of the steering components.
  4. Moving the spring perch up on these shocks a fraction of an inch does not change the spring rate when the truck weight is supported by the spring. It simply moves the sprung chassis up. The ride quality change is due to the change I the angle of the suspension A-arms. Using a spacer (top or bottom) or cranking the spring perch up on an adjustable height coil over assembly will result in exactly the same ride quality change (same increase in stiffness) if exactly the same spring is used to raise the truck exactly the same height.

  7. Arcasey Just my experience, I put a hid kit in the fogs on my last truck. I found that they effectively became "flood" type beams, instead of the flat beam shape of a fog light. They also became extremely bright and could not be used around other traffic. So, I thought I'd just use them for driving lights on my long road trips. But their usefulness was limited by the hid characteristics of slow warm up to brightness. I'd really recommend you spend the extra bucks for either The Retrofit Source direct replacement LED fogs or the LED Rigid Industies D2 driving lights (very powerful), or LED D2 DOT/SAE compliant fog light (street legal). They come on instantly.
  8. Put some of the LED bulbs in. Add a pair of driving lights for the lonely stretches of highway. Having a low beam that is well controlled, bright enough without being obnoxious, and lastly color matched should make you a happy trucker. Especially if you get some type of driving lights for when you need lots of light. There is.
  9. Yeah. Don't be "that guy". It's not just "...not ideal" but that combination has enough bright unfocused light to be hazardous to oncoming traffic and to you, as a result. It will bring attention to you by law enforcement,maybe when you least want it. Say after you've had a beer or two. There's just no justifiable reason to do it. It's irresponsible and instead of being cool, people will just think you're a horses arse punk.
  10. Just my opinion, but I didn't think the stock fog lights on my 2014 added any noticeable visibility when I did this mod. However, when I installed auxiliary driving lights, I wired a powerful wide beam set to the fog light circuit via a relay. The diode 10-18 mod then allowed me to turn on the auxiliary driving lights with the factory fog light switch and allow them to remain on when high beams were commanded. Later, I replaced the OEM fog lights with Rigid Industries DOT fog lights. So, my current light setup is HID kit in OEM projectors, Rigid fogs, 2 Baja Designs S2 wide beams relay wired to the fog circuit, 2 Baja Designs S2 long range beams relay wired to the high beams. When I command high beams, all the lights come on. When I return the OEM hi-low headlight switch to low beam, they all shut off and the headlights return to low beam. I can also turn on fogs and the wide beam S2 lights separately by pushing the factory fog light button, day or night.

  13. The market data will push GM to make their decision. But ultimately, it boils down to a person or persons to make the decision. According to a law firm representing plaintiffs related to push-button ignition/passive entry, there are two federal regulations that are not being met by the design. Fwiw, the average price of all GM fullsize truck sales is $35k.
  14. Good to hear they've moved forward away from those old lights designed almost a decade ago. If you're interested in other options for them, the TRS snap in replacement fogs are rated at 2400 lumens and have a wide beam to cover the ditches.
  15. I had driven with my wife somewhere, dropped her off, then drove to another place. I was about to shut off the car, when I realized I didn't have the key. She had it in her purse. Sure a light on the dash came on as she left the car, right in the same place the seatbelt light comes on. There are enough lights and chimes in a car in almost each use that I'm numb to them. There are many scenarios that can separate the keyless key from the vehicle and allow it to drive away. Many members whine about the cost of these trucks, yet want all these kinds of features. This feature likely adds hundreds to the retail bottom line.
  16. I think it will eventually become a part of a trim pkg. Maybe next year. I believe it would be expensive for the components and maybe impossible for a GM OEM type installation due to the BCM interfaces. Maybe aftermarket kits are available? I'm not a fan of this feature. I'm happy my truck and Camaro don't have it. My wife's car has it. I would be happy to never own a car/truck with it.
  17. Now you need to replace the fog light assemblies with some better lights. I'm not a fan of the LED replacement bulbs I've seen. The ones I've seen change the beam to where it glares above the original cutoff. TRS makes a direct replacement assembly for the Sierra now. I have the Rigid DOT/SAE lights.
  18. Stock bulb. is 24 watt. You should be ok. I'm running 33w Rigid DOT lights direct without a relay and have run them for extended time without problems.
  19. Check the wattage of the lights you plan to install. If they are much higher than the OEM bulb rating, you should consider adding a relay circuit.
  20. Mine is cracked on both sides. The driver side both tabs are cracked. One tab on pax side.
  21. GM Upfitter website doesn't have electrical schematics for the 2016. I don't know of any way to figure this out for the 2016 other than a test light and a bunch of circuit testing.
  22. Here's the OEM projector in the foreground next to the RX-350 bixenon. Physically close in overall dimensions, along with the performance are why I chose them.
  23. I can tell you the factory projector with a HID kit is acceptable. It's not the best, but it's simple for huge gain in visibility. My current setup is a 35w kit in the factory projectors. I just returned from a 1500 mile road trip to hunt in AZ. The lights I have worked very well for all situations. But I also have available Rigid DOT fogs, one set of wide beam Baja Designs S2 lights, and one set of long range S2 lights. These are wired to allow fogs on with high beams, and the S2 lights are wired to a relay triggered by the high beams. This allows turning on and off all the lights with the high beam lever in a single motion. I'm probably going to install my RX-350 projectors some day, but finding time has been the problem. I shared my RX-350 adapter design with Andrew and he now offers this to you guys. Glad to see it out there.
  24. Tap into the high beam circuit and run that wire to the switching circuit on relay you are running (not the circuit that powers your light bar). Here's the optional part. You can put your switch in line on this wire between the high beams and the relay, which will let you have high beams with or without the light bar.
  25. Sounds like my 79 El Camino (really a GMC Caballero). 3 engines, 2 transmissions, 3 paint jobs, 3 dashboards, 3 radios, 2 interiors, untold numbers of girlfriends, 1 wife.
