  1. More expensive oil and lower fuel economy. They seem to gloss over the fact that 0w20 was used for a reason. And the reason was to meet emissions standards…. it sounds like we the vehicle owner lose all around.
  2. I’m in the replace it now camp. Batteries tend to fail on the coldest morning of the year. Hey don’t fail on nice sunny days. Making it to work or home is important and I would rather change it before it fails.
  3. This says a lot about how confident GM is in this test process. They don’t want to take any of these back because they know the potential of failure is still high… I. Sure glad I bought a 6.2 litre Chevy….
  4. When I checked a few weeks ago neither Walmart or Canadian Tire had 0w40 dexos R the store. And when I can find it i the price is considerably more. Please make sure we are comparing 0w20 Dexos1 prices to 0w40 Dexos R prices and not a regular 0w40….
  5. A tiny bit of soap will probably be fine. I would be more worried about it leaking g again while driving around.
  6. This is exactly where I’m at. I made a huge mistake by buying 2 brand new trucks (Tahoe & Silverado Trailboss) at the same time. I can’t believe I’m saying this but I should have bought one Chevy and one Dodge. Then at least I wouldn’t have both affected by the same flaws. I really is said. Both my wife and I really do love our vehicles but we are afraid to drive them any real distance knowing that it may cost us thousands of dollars if it breaks down. Even though hey are under warranty.
  7. The funny thing is more often than not when my local dealer puts my wife in a rental it isn’t a GM. Thankfully when my local dealer does it they handle paying the rental company.
  8. I took a trip to Florida in March with my wife and 3 kids (from Toronto, Ontario). About half way home the valvebody failed on my wife’s Tahoe. The valvebody was another item that suffered recall recently. In this case GM chose to reprogram the engine computer to only shift into 5th when it detected a failure. I’m it was way cheaper for GM to do this instead of replacing all the effected units. Anyway it failed 12 hours from home on a Saturday night. We ended up needing a hotel until Tuesday. Dealer of course is closed weekends. Monday afternoon they informed us that the valvebody was faulty and on a national back order. “May take months to get one”. My wife and 2 kids got ride home with her parents who were still in Florida and cut their trip short to help. My son and I had to fly home. About a month later GM got it the valvebody replaced so I flew down to pick it up. My wife missed 2 days of work and I have lost 4 days. GM told us they would reimburse us for the expenses. So far they have paid half and are now giving us the runaround about the rest. We are out thousands but GM sure saved by not being proactive and replacing all the effected parts. I have a 2023 Trailboss with the same valvebody and also a 6.2 motor. I’m afraid to take it on any trips. My son has a go kart race 6 hours from home next month and I’m going to have to pay to transport his kart. I’m not confident my truck will be problem free and to be honest I can’t afford to pay the expenses if it fails and I’m towing g a trailer. It was a disaster with just the vehicle and no trailer. FWIW I have held off posting this because GM had told us they would reimburse us but they haven’t come through. I should also add that the day after I got home from picking up her Tahoe the engine light came on. Back to the dealer. A local one at least. This time the part needed was only 2 weeks to get. They gave us a rental but the rental is either a Caravan over a best up Dodge base model truck. Nothing like making payments a fully loaded SUV while you drive A caravan. And he best part is your warranty is slowly exporting while it sits in a back lot at dealership.
  9. The only problem with this approach is what about when the failure leaves someone stranded and out of pocket for thousands in expenses? Like I mentioned earlier the valvebody failed in my wife’s Tahoe when we were 12 hours from home. GM has reimbursed us for some of the expenses but only about half. I’m still out of pocket for 3 nights in a hotel and flights. so far they have only paid for my flight back to pick it up. There would need be an assurance that all the vehicle owners failed trip costs are covered. Otherwise GM saves a fortune by not replacing 700,000 engines but the average Joe gets left shouldering the expense of failed part.

FWIW I have held off posting this because GM had told us they would reimburse us but they haven’t come through. My wife wants to trade both vehicles in for 2025 models but I’m not confident that would be any better. At least for us. If a pair of 2 year old vehicles aren’t reliable can you really expect that spending another $80,000 to $90,000 will?
  11. So now I need to start buying Dexos R 0w40 oil? A quick Google search says they only Mobile 1 makes this. I can’t wait to spend twice as much on oil every time I change my oil.
  12. As mentioned you need to check the heater/ ac drain. If that is not plugged and you are not using coolant then I would leak check the windshield. Has it ever been replaced?
  13. Is there a DRL fuse? My brother in-law needed the ability to disable them on a new Canyon last year. I removed the fuse and wired a switch into the cab so that he turn them off when doing surveillance. Flip it back on when not.
  14. I don’t have the part number but it may be worth a call to the sales person you got it from. I have purchased a few GM trucks that did not have them installed. In those cases they were in the package with the owners manual and window sticker. They probably have few sets kicking around.
  15. Is there a recall covering your tailgate button? If so I would start there.
  16. Did it destroy your tailgate? I really wish there was a way to lockout the tailgate when connected to a trailer.
  17. Man I sure hope GM is proud of these…
  18. When you done can you post the part numbers for the camera and cable you used? I want to add a backup to my enclosed trailer.
  19. The heat points to excess current. Usually this cause by a circuit shorting to ground. The first step in diagnosing this is a visual inspection. Follow the wires from there all the way to each brake assembly. Most likely a wire has rubbed against the frame. Often you will also see signs of corrosion on the wire. At least in rust belt. Blue wire is generally used for electric brake circuits. Hope this helps.
  20. I have done this on a previous generation GMC. It was a full day job. The factory heated seats will not be a problem. The manufacturer will usually steer you to right fit by year, make, model, body and trim level.
  21. Usually it is better to leave the old seal in there. It’s not a wear item.
  22. https://www.permatex.com/products/specialized-maintenance-repair/repair-kits/permatex-rear-window-defogger-electrical-conductive-tab-adhesive/ I have never used it myself but worth a try.
  23. It seems like you may be over thinking this one. I have never ordered a vehicle with the specs I wanted. I buy off the lot. Usually that means some give and take. I bought a TB last summer because it was there and really liked it. I went to buy Sierra Elevation to replace one lost in a wrench. The dealer had ordered the TB for someone else and the deal feel through Saturday morning ( sounds like financing feel through). The salesman was very motivated to sell it so i walked away with TB for $1,100 more than insurance paid out on the Elevation. Could I have found a ZR2? Maybe. Could I have bought a lower trim truck and did the mods? Sure. But why? So I could feel like I did it myself?
  24. I had no trouble retracting the rears with 9 volt battery on my 2019. Use the battery to push them back. I later did the fronts and I got codes and a very soft/ peddle. Interesting enough after that I was able to put it in service mode. Before that it m never worked. I must have tried 15 times.
