Hd Center Cap Problem

I had my Center caps on 2001 2500HD (Steel wheels with chrome) every since I bought my truck but last fall I took them of to rotate my tires and left the caps off, because I needed brake work done last week I got my truck out and had the brakes and new tires out on, today I went to put on the center caps on and I cant get 2 of them to stay on it's like the plastic nuts won't catch so they will screw on,

Has anyone else ran into this ?

Those plastic nuts are bad about stripping. All it takes is about 1/4 turn too far and they are toast. Somebody in here said they bought some at an Autozone store.

most people make the mistake of using a impact to spin them on and off ,i use a deep well socket by hand ,mine have been on rthere since 01 on my hd .

Well I took A couple of the nuts out of the center cap and they seem to screw right on, It's almost like the tin in the center of the wheel is raised up, and that makes the cap stick up and then the nuts are too short to start...

Although my wheels aren't as "textured" as yours, they are lifted in the center as well and have been since day one.

I don't think that is your problem. I think Zembo is right.
