4.3 L V6 To 5.3 L V8

Is it possible to change out my v6 to the 5.3 without any major changes. Would it bolt right up to everything including transmission. I have a 2007 nnbs.

It will hook up to the transmission, There both 4l60. But the EMC, and the wiring will be different I would think. maybe theres a company out there that makes a wiring kit. A lot of work, To me it will not be worth it.

Short answer...no.

It will bolt up to the tranny ok...but the computers are all programed for the 4.3 and I am not sure what kind of problems you would run into when you change engines.

I would guess there would be MAJOR ISSUES because the computers are all on a LAN and talk to each other.

 

If you need more power, I would suggest changing the rear end gears to probably a 4.10 and having the engine and tranny tuned by Justin.

 

I just got a mail order tune from him for my 2006 4.3L and it does run a little better and holds speed on hills better than it did.

 

If you need more power than you could get by changing rear gears...I would be looking at trading trucks, instead of swapping engines.

You would be better and cheaper off buying the truck that you want, instead of trying to make your current one something it's not.

I think if you can swing $$$$ a trade for the truck you really want, that would be better. Trying to make a 4.3L could cost you some omoney, and you still may not be happy.

i was thinking supercharger personaly, and a good system could give you more hp than youd have on the 5.3...and it would DEFF be a ton cheaper. justin sells magnachargers and tunes as a combo set, id invest in that if i were you.
