Trailering Mirrors On My Silverado 1500

I have the basic power mirrors on my 1500 and would like to upgrade to regular trailer mirrors. I'm wondering if anyone has a part number for these and how difficult is it to do this?

The ones I have are not the dimming or signaling type.

I have the wide load HD trailer mirrors. I had dealer install them since they had to change out panel on the door with window and mirror buttons on it since they are not power folding, only power heated with signals on them.

When I switched to the HD Tow Mirrors, it took me less than 10 minutes to do both on the side of the road since I was impatient and wanted them put on. Straight swap for me, since I had power non heated before, to power heated tow mirrors.

Remove the triangle piece, 3 bolts, and undo the wire harness, and reverse installation. Simple swap, but what a difference

So in doing the swap from the regular power mirrors I will go to power tow mirrors? No heat or signal? Am I correct?

No,If you get the kit from GM they WILL be power adjust/heated,and have the turn-signal (NOTE:Only the upper glass portion will be pwr.adjustable & heated)

Darrick,If you post me the last 8 of your VIN I can get you the GM part number for the kit.

Hey, do you guys know if you still get the power tilt down feature when in reverse on those HD mirrors. I had them on other mirrors but it don't seem to work on these HD ones.

I just did this to my 1500. I bought a set of take-offs from an '09 2500 on ebay. I went from the mirrors you have to power, signal, heated towing mirrors, plug and play. The part numbers for mine were 25879083(L) and 25838625 ®. I don't know if they are any different than the 1500 mirrors but if there is a difference, it is that I do not have the "objects in mirror are closer than they appear". Mine are flat glass. It is a little more involved with the GMT900 trucks in that you must remove the door panel in order to plug in the wiring. Makes it way easier to get the lower two mirror bolts as well. Still, it was an easy swap. You can also go with aftermarkets that look identical to OEM. They are from a company named Kool Vue and are sold all over including ebay. Do a search on this forum, someone listed a source for these at a good price in the last week. My OEM's were $300 delivered which is just about the price of the Kool Vue's too. You have to watch carefully at what you buy because there are many flavors out there, i.e. turn signal, heated, etc.

    • New to this forum.  Also looking to tune a 6L80 and trying to work out all the issues in my transmission swap.  I have a 6.2 diesel (1983) and have removed the TH-400 and about to put in a 6L80 with a TCM-2600 interface and don't have a clue what I doing after that.  Did you (Leatherneck/RAV3) get your slip resolved? I too hate to spend that kind of money on a tuner that hopefully I will not need too many times although from what steelerdude15 added about the HP Tuner being great for diagnostics would be a plus.  I am also from WNC but below you in Columbus.  Any helo would be greatly appreciated.
