Questions About Navigation System

Recommended Posts

Posted

I need to ditch my cell phone nav and get something with a larger screen.

I have questions about the factory nav (non-touch screen).

can you listen to the radio or an auxiliary source while the navigation system is being used?

does GM offer updated navigation maps on a regular basis?

i've looked at a couple of aftermarket systems, but i can get the non-touch factory system for less money, and it keeps the truck looking stock.

is there any advantage to the touch-screen? does it have any features the non-touch screen doesn't have?

I can't answer for the 'non-touch' NAV, but assuming it's similiar to the touch-screen one.....

Yes, you can listen to the radio or aux src when using the NAV system.

Yes, GM does offer regular updates (usually yearly) but at $200 a pop. eBay is usually cheaper, but you have to ensure you purchase the correct maps for your NAV system (apparently, not all created equal).

Hope that helps.
