Buying A 09 2500hd

Guys,

I need some help/information. I need to purchase another 2500 HD I went to my local dealer last month to purchase the truck. I have bought 4 Yukons and some fleet 1500 W/T's and a 2500 HD SLT 6.6 from them. Anyway the owner of the dealership said that I did not want to buy one now because the 0% finacing program was only for 1500's and regular cabs. I told him to run one out to 60 for me and he said the payment would be over $ 1000.00 a month. I told him, you are right. I won't pay that much for a pick up not as much as over a grand. He said to wait til 3rd of July to see if they would add the crew cab 2500's. Checked back, no go. I own an excavation company and have to get a 3/4 or 1 ton asap for myself. I gave my 2500 SLT to my super and bought a Yukon and tricked it out since I was not pulling. Now I have added a landscape division and I am running a crew so I need to start pulling our MTL and equipment around instead of pulling other trucks off jobs. I talked to a markting director for GM in Detroit and explained my dedication to GMC and the problem. He did not seem to be able to figure his rear from a hole in ground. Ford Dodge all have 0% on HD trucks. I even drove a Dodge 3500 with new 6.7 which was not bad for ten grand cheaper plus 0% for 72 but I want a GMC. My dealer has had the truck he ran numbers on a still has it so its not like they are selling them so well, that GM wont run a special. I have my name on 2 2500HD's one on lot and the dealership's last 2009 SLT to come in for 09 at the end of Aug. Does any have any guess on if GM will run the 2009 2500HD at all ? maybe when 2010 trucks start rolling in. when do the start? any ideas or comments. I want to buy a GMC not a Ford or Dodge.

Thanks

I'm not saying for sure, but I doubt GM will have any good deals on the HD line. I had the same problem (besides not finding a long box CC anywhere), so I went with what I have now. Saved a ton of money and it's a great work truck!

How do you like the Dodge, I know the Dodge is almost ten grand cheaper I test drove one over the weekend the ten grand they saved is in the fit and finish. I thought the interior was a little bad but I was not in a Laramie or whatever, but for ten grand I could deal with it and the new Cummins motor makes up for it but the seats (cloth) were aweful they hurt my rear and seat back was to stiff. The leather may be better. My GMC dealer also owns a Dodge dealership so he has got me. I heard from more that one that the 6.4's in the Fords are laying down. I might just buy an 02 Ford or whatever the last year of the 7.3 was in a Lariat and get the seats fixed up and redone cause every 7.3 outher has been drove and they wont quit, and the fuel economey is great. that Dodge I drove was bad on fuel. I could not imagine that new 6.7 with out the DPF filter, cat converter, and muffler. what does yours get?

I agree, the Dodge doesn't have the bells and whistles like the GM product. I think of it more on the lines of a work truck. The seats are not as comfy as the GM either. Besides those things I like everything else better. The 6.7 is a great engine and the new 6 speed seems very good. I can't say anything about long term. I get 19-20 mpg with daily driving. It is said to get better after 10,000 miles. I only have 8,000 on it now, so time will tell. While towing at 65-70 mph it dropped to 15 mpg. I wouldn't say my Chevy did any better on fuel at all, and the 6.7 has tons more power, even stock. My Dmax had a 90 HP Edge in it and it wasn't comparable to the stock 6.7 Cummins.

Our Ford 7.3 has been good since it hit 100,000 but it's always been a dog. The power just isn't there compared to the newer diesels. It was good advise you got about the 6.4........... My father in law is a service manager at the Ford/Chrysler dealer. He is a big Ford fanatic, but he even advised against the new Ford Diesel. They have too many problems with them.

I too, would have liked to get a GMC or Chevy Duramax, but it just isn't in the cards right now with pricing and availability. If you want to opt for something used I would still go Duramax! Mine never gave me any big problems.

Would you even consider a DPF delete. I saw on youtube a Diesel online magazine do a DPF removal on the 6.7 and put a new tune on the computer which wroked and did not throw codes. My state does not do a vehicle inspection. Those DPFs suck bad along with the cat converter I think is is over kill and the Goverment is burning the candle at both ends with the push for more mpg and killing the Diesel market with all the "enviromental" stuff, come on the global warming crap has not even been proved. They are killing I mean killing the MPG on the Diesel pick-up trucks. I think this is a good idea for a topic.

Ya, they don't know a good thing if it hit them in the head, unless it had dollar signs on it........

The Cummins is 2012 emissions also. The DPF delete helps, along with some other deal that you can unplug under the hood. I haven't looked into it because I don't plan adding anything to it right now. I haven't heard of anything that doesn't throw codes. I think there is something that disguises the codes, but they are still there. Not 100% on that though.

I'm not hearing good things for 2010 either, on anything with an engine. Sounds like a big price increase because of new emissions.
