wise14 Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 I've got a factory am/fm cd player in my 05 GMC Sierra. At first there were a couple backlight bulbs behind the buttons burnt out. I soldered in new bulbs (from radio-shack) and they worked for a day, then ALL of the backlights in the radio quit working. The radio works fine, even the LCD lights up you just can't see any of the buttons in the dark. I bought a new cirucuit board that fits directly behind the faceplate, but I still can't get any of the bulbs to illuminate. Any ideas, other than buy a replacement radio?
tflessner Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 The CD player broke on mine, so I bought a used one off EBay, installed it, then took it to the dealership to have them reset it to work with my truck/VIN. That's usually the best way to solve the broken stereo problem. Either that, or buy an aftermarket one. I've thought about putting something like this this one in mine. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_113DPX303/Ken...03.html?tp=5684
